I was looking for something on e-bay, and found they were already selling Season 5 DVD bootlegs out of China.
So I ordered one. Cost me $10.57, shipping included. I hope it's as good as the Season 4 bootleg. 
Yeah, I'll order the Season 5 blu-ray if it ever comes out, but I'll also point out that the Season 4 blu ordered from Amazon UK will be arriving around the same time as the Season 5 bootleg... I wouldn't do this if they were a little more timely in getting the disc set out...  |

At least I have a legit copy of S3, even if it did have to travel 4,000 miles to get here. I wonder if this will get worse when Disney starts their streaming service... Well, Amazon has already lost a lot of my business. They're not always the cheapest price, and pre-ordering movies from Target/Best Buy is always better choice. Ha! Yeah, except I'm not feeling really guilty about it. At least I can console myself that if I buy a legit copy I'm not actually pirating the video... I'm operating under the assumption I'll never see a studio version. I wonder how much the bootleggers actually make per set. The lowest price I could find this year was $10.57, but I bought Season 4 for $9.59, which includes ebay fees and shipping. From China. Oh, and it shipped today. S4 won't become available for another 10 days... |

Got the disc set yesterday. (Got tracking all the way to my door. Meanwhile, my S4 Blu-Ray from Amazon UK is still on a slow boat from England, and tracking is not available... But I digress... )
The case is crap and needs to be replaced (it has a peculiar smell to it, and it's hella difficult to remove the disks, so they're being moved to a different case...).
Same complaints as the S4 bootleg. The bonus feature is widely available on the internet. (It's the 100th episode cast interviews, which is funny, because I never saw it when I was going spoiler free. The length of the feature on the DVD is the same as the one on YouTube. Video below. In better quality than the DVD.) And the subtitles commonly overlay the credits, etc.
Otherwise (like S4), I am astonished at how well the set is put together. From the disc art to the case liner, it looks like something ABC Studios would put out. It even comes with a slipcover. It even has the unskippable anti-piracy warning at the beginning of each DVD. 
The quality of the video/audio (from my sampling) is outstanding, considering I'm watching up-scaled 480i. (Unfortunately, one of my random samples was Fitz explaining the "Fear Dimension." That ruined things a little bit.  ) It's studio quality (by that I mean it's not an OTA recorded broadcast, and all the places where commercials breaks would be are completely seamless).
Part of me wonders if there wasn't some backdoor agreement between Disney, Marvel and/or ABC and the producers of this disk, but with China's rep on intellectual property, it was probably just backdoored out. Heh. But considering they're selling these on Amazon (third party, at almost 3x the price I got it for I might add) and Disney hasn't stomped on them, I have to wonder...

I wouldn't do this if they were a little more timely in getting the disc set out... Aaaaand, not only did I get my Captain Marvel Blu yesterday, but my S5 blu set arrived from Amazon UK as well.
Ended up costing $26.07, including shipping, currency conversion, etc.
There are two versions, a "deluxe" version, which came in a box set like previous seasons, and a "regular" version, which just comes in a clamshell. (No slipcover though.  ) They were sold out of the "deluxe" version.  (Apparently, the set has been available in the UK for months now.) Video quality is excellent, average bitrates from around 20-25MBPS. (The star fields look exceptional.)
Both special features are available on-line (in a lower quality video). There are 10 deleted scenes and the outtakes are about 4 1/2 minutes.
I feel better about myself now. |

It started as a my firetruck is bigger than your firetruck, and Amazon was successful in firetrucking other studios to their demands. It's just Disney said firetruck you. It's also the reason why Amazon won't pre-sell Disney movies, it really suppresses pre-sales numbers. The real question is why Disney made AoS and Agent Carter Amazon exclusives in the first place? What was the deal there?
Moving up to 2019, however, Amazon will be in direct competition with D+. Both are producing their own content, and D+ will have exclusive access to the biggest movies of the year, including Endgame, Toy Story 4, etc. Thus, I don't think the Disney/Amazon firetrucking is going to end anytime soon...
BTW, is there more than one expletive replacement word? If there is, then I'm obviously using it wrong. HAhahahaha....

I could have sworn I had a thread around here about the Season 6 bootleg out of China, but can't find it. So I'll tag onto the S5 bootleg thread. Anyway, I got it a while ago, before the Corona Virus became popular over there, so I think I'm safe. The first seller I dealt with couldn't deliver at the price specified (nor did he refund my money and had to go through paypal to get it back), so I ended up paying something like $18 for the set.
Same as the S4 and S5 bootlegs, video and audio is studio quality (albeit DVD quality), no special features.
I still haven't watched it yet, other than making sure the discs worked...
