5x22 “The End”

Act 1

After the Marvel logo, we first see a heart monitor beeping as sad music plays. An overhead shot shows Coulson in much the same state we last saw him. Davis pulls a blanket up to his chest.



We cut to Deke standing against a wall in a corridor outside of the Control center. We distantly hear the team fighting from the inside but don’t see it.

Daisy: He is out of time.

Mack: There has to be another way.

Simmons: I’m telling you, the implant only contains enough for one dose. Either it’s medicine or a weapon.

-Piper joins Deke-

Piper: Davis said there’s no change.

-They stand silently as the team’s argument grows louder.

YoYo: Why are we still discussing this?! The scale has tipped to one side.

Daisy: This isn’t number, it’s Coulson.

Piper: You don’t want to be in there?

Deke: *doesn’t answer and instead listens*

YoYo: And Coulson didn’t want this. How many times do we have to make that clear?

Deke: This is for them to decide.

-We finally see the team as the camera pans from Deke to a window into the control center-

YoYo: I know it’s terrible. I can’t bear to see him like that. But this? This is the moment—

-We’re finally fully in the room-

Fitz: *gesturing* This is the exact circumstance that she warned us about.

May: *arms crossed and off to the side* *a bit dismissively* We’re all aware.

YoYo: We can change it right now.

Daisy: *hands on hips* The Odium mixture won’t work if it can’t penetrate Talbot’s skin.

Simmons: Bullets can’t get close to him. No one can touch him, not even you, YoYo.

Daisy: There’s no way to get the poison in his body.

Fitz: What if he absorbed someone?

-Mack shoots Fitz a long look that is half side-eye-

Fitz: Oh, don’t look at me like that. *gestures* I-it’s hypothetical.

YoYo; Exactly. All we have to do is have it in the right hands, and that maniac will take the bait.

Mack: And so, who’d you have in mind, you?

YoYo: I don’t know, maybe.

Mack: Now you want to sacrifice yourself, too?

YoYo: No, but I’m willing to. We all should be.

Simmons: *done facepalming* We know Coulson would,

May: *uncrosses arms* And if it doesn’t work? He would’ve died for nothing.

YoYo: *loudly* Better than leaving this world in pieces.

Daisy: *loudly* Robin said Coulson can put the pieces together. She thinks that *he’s the key to solving all of this.

YoYo: She speaks in broken riddles. You’re hearing what you want to hear.

Fitz: *hands in pockets* *to Daisy* What could Coulson do?

Daisy: He would never give up on Talbot, *looks at YoYo who just stands there* and he wouldn’t see him as a maniac. He would see him as a man, as a broken man. Coulson’s the only one that can talk him through this. That’s what he does.

May: *quietly, not looking at anyone* Put him back together.

Daisy: I’m sorry. We save lives. I have to make this call. Fitz-Simmons, get ready to—

-Daisy heads towards the table with the Centipede Serum and reaches for it but YoYo grabs it before she can-

Daisy: YoYo…

YoYo: *with Serum against her chest and stomach* You’re making me do this. I-I can’t let you use it for that.

Mack: *wide eyed* Put it down.

-Everyone starts creeping towards YoYo-

Fitz: *with a hand held out* Okay. Let’s stay calm.

YoYo: *pleading* Stop making me the bad guy. I’m not.

-May looks to the vial of Odium on the table next to her-

YoYo: You just don’t want him to die.

Daisy: *commanding* Put it down.

YoYo: I don’t want him to die, either, but…he’s just one man.

-Daisy starts to advance on YoYo quickly but is stopped by Mack who stops her with a hand held up-

Mack: *To Daisy* No, no! None of that. *Stepping closer to YoYo* Think about what you’re doing here.

Yo-Yo: You won't listen. I'm in a nightmare, and I'm screaming at the top of my lungs and none of you can hear me!

Jemma: We hear you.

Yo-Yo: But you won't listen! You all saw what happened, and none of you will help me stop this. *To Mack* I'm alone and even you... even you won't help me.

Mack: No, you're not alone. We're in this with you, but we need to hold it together.

Yo-Yo: There's nothing holding us together.

Mack: Yes, there is! Hope. We never give up. *looks to the others* We're always held together by hope. So, we cling to it. And we vote. We vote.

-Glass shatters. They all react, startled, and look behind Mack, seeing May looking down at the spilled Odium. May looks from the floor and up at YoYo-

YoYo: *breaking into tears* No. Why? *gets on the floor by the Odium* No, *cries as everyone watches, shifting their gaze from May to YoYo* No.

May: *sighs* *steps forward and bend down next to YoYo, taking the Centipede Serum injector from her hand* *sincerely and quietly* I’m sorry.

-Jemma had came from behind May and bent down in front of the Odium with YoYo. May walks to Fitz, passing Mack who gives her a look, and then goes to YoYo who is still crying, while Jemma has her face buried in her hands while she sits on the floor. Mack tries to touch YoYo but YoYo pushes him away. May looks at them sadly. Fitz holds out his hand to May. -

Fitz: Simmons and I will prepare the remedy. *May hands him the Injector and he pockets it* Everyone else should prepare for the end of the world. *walks away*



Cue Title Card

On a (new?) ship, Talbot it’s time for Robin to do a new art project: point to the place where Robin saw him surrounded by the liquid metal. Polly is on the floor with Robin, holding Robin in her arms.

Talbot: Can just draw a little dot. If you get me close, I’ll feel it now.

-Robin just looks up at him and Polly stares off into space not making eye contact. They are silent. Talbot bends down to their level after staring at them. –

Talbot: You see this little guy? *pointing to the globe in front of them* I am the savior that’s going to protect it. But I need some help. *smiles* *hands Robin a Sharpie* What do you say?

-Robin shakes her head. –

Talbot: *getting closer to Robin and yelling in her face* Well, then I’ll just take your soothsayer powers! Cut to the chase!

Robin: *Polly is holding on tighter* No, you won’t.

Talbot: *seemingly calms down and moves away* Of course not. *chuckles* You’re just a kid. *stands up* But I will find a way to win you over. *walks away*

Polly: *moves in front of Robin* I’m here. You’re doing good. Don’t help them.

Robin: But if I don’t, this will be the last time I see you.

-Polly starts to cock her head quizzically but the two Remorath minions come from behind her and start to drag her away as she and Robin both scream. Robin begs as they take her out of the room. This all happens as we see Talbot standing there, looking down at Robin. –

Talbot: It’s true. You’re not gonna see your mother again till I get what I want. *Robin is scared out of her mind* Now let’s try this again. *gets back to Robin’s level* *hands her the Sharpie* *she takes it*

-He uses his power to pull the globe to him and then he picks it up and holds it in front of her. –

Talbot: Just one little dot.



Mack joins YoYo in a corridor. She tells him that he is going to die. He tells her that everyone dies and on that day, they will have to answer up there, for what they’ve done down here. Hearing this, YoYo shakes her head and rolls her eyes with tears rolling down her cheeks. Mack starts to walk away and as he does, YoYo tells him that it’s not God that she’s afraid of.



Cut to Talbot moving whatever ship that is, down to the surface of the Earth, and destroying the Cubbie’s city in the process.



Act 2

Back from break, we see a close up of Coulson. He is still on oxygen, but not a mask this time. In the background, we see Elena pause at the door as she looks in. She comes into focus as Coulson comes out of focus. He opens his eyes when he hears her and moves his head as she comes in.

E: *standing nervously* I heard you were up.

C: ‘Up’ would imply the ability to stand. I’m not there yet.

E: You will be.

-They share a few seconds of silence until she steps forward, placing herself at the side of the gurney-

E: I just want you to know *Coulson moves his head to look straight at her* no matter what they say…I was never arguing for you to die. I just…I was just arguing to not bet everything on you.

C: And I would have taken your side.

E: *smiles lightly* I know.

-She walks away slowly and as Coulson has a look-



Daisy walks under one of the rounded corridors as Deke gives orders to some agents about where to put their boxes, saying put one in every room if possible. He asks her if she finished fueling the Zephyr as she joins him. She has, and also fueled the QJ. They’ll leave as soon as they get a location.

Daisy: I'm glad you're taking point here at the Lighthouse. Who better than you to decide what the next generation will look like. Get to show them the ins and outs of this place.

Deke: Yeah, I don't know if I’m gonna be around for all that. I'll call the mayor and give the tour, but when you get back, I think I'll be out of here.

Daisy: Why?

-Deke looks at the door behind them and then opens it, showing her his room-

Deke: This is my room. I'm like a squirrel hording anything I can find. Also, as a side note - found a nature book. Learned about squirrels.

Daisy: Old habits die hard. *looking him over and then back in the room*

-We see the new multitool and the old multitool on a table in the corner-

Deke: More like I'm a damaged person. From a damaged world. If there's even a chance it could happen again.

Daisy: You’d want to see the world before it does.

Deke: I mean besides, according to Fitz, if the world doesn't crack open, and you break the time loop, I'll just blink out of existence anyway. So, it's just one more vacancy, right? Come on. I never *gestures, walks past Daisy* totally fit in with the gang anyway.

Daisy: Is that what we are?

Deke: You know when I first met you guys, I never seen anything like that? I mean I've seen people kill for each without hesitation all the time, but I've never seen a group that was willing to die for each other. Your trust, it just seemed too strong to break. And you trying to fix Coulson? That's great. I love the guy. But if you really want to lead one day, you've got to fix that. Just... my two cents. I also read a book on idiomatic expressions.

-Piper comes down the corrido in a hurry-

Piper: We're on the move. *she passes them and rounds the corner*

Deke: You spotted him?

Daisy: Where is he?

Piper: Chicago.

-Daisy runs to catch up with her-



We see Zephyr leave the hangar and head out.



In the Zephyr’s med bay, Simmons opens the box with the Centipede Serum Injector.

Coulson, still on oxygen, looks at it with a slight side-eye. “That’s not something you see down in urgent care.”

S: *not looking at Coulson* It’s almost the same serum that was keeping Garrett alive. Though the Centipede ingredients might give you *finally looks at him* a little extra mojo.

C: Jemma, you remember when I was carving into the walls? *Jemma looks down and away* And you know how it ended with Garrett. We’ve seen what happens when we don’t let nature take its course.

S: *looks back at him* *quietly, respectfully* Sir. And we discussed that as a group—

-May cuts her off off-screen and she and Coulson both look in May’s direction. –

May: *standing at the doorway* *to Simmons, but looking at Coulson* Will you give us a moment?

-Coulson breathes heavily as he and May lock eyes. Simmons gives Coulson one more glance and then leaves after making sure to close the Serum box. Meanwhile, Coulson and May continue to quietly give each other ‘let’s not fight in front the kid’ looks as May walks further in and places herself at the gurney’s side. -

M: *after Simmons is out of the room* I’m not going to detail what we risked to get this.

C: I’m aware. And I’m not happy I was left out of that decision.

M: You wouldn’t wake up. *Coulson exhales and gives her different look* But now the decision is yours. You’re too weak to stand? Well, we’d like to see walk out of this room and rejoin the fight. *Coulson cocks his head* But it’s up to you, if you think more time is worth it. I’ve made it clear how I feel.

C: *speaking through measured breaths* I think I have, too.

M: But even now…the word scares you.

C: I’m just having a hard-enough time…leaving you behind.

M: So don’t.

-May pushes the box closer and then gives him a look as he looks at the box. She walks away, and he watches her, contemplating everything she just said. –



In a scene straight out of a Godzilla movie, civilians see Talbot coming and quickly get the Fitz away in Chicago. Talbot comes down from his ship, and lands on a taxi, stepping off as if it’s a stepping stool. He walks down the street for a minute until he finds the spot he is looking for and pulls a perfectly round chunk of the Earth out, absorbs the Gravitonium, and lets the core topple over. Those who had stayed behind to watch scram in panic.



Act 3

On Zephyr, Davis, in the Pilot’s seat, announces that they are ten minutes out. We see Daisy up in the cockpit with her back to the Command Center. Behind her, we see Mack, May, and Fitz talking in front of one of the monitors.

Mack: The buildings are holding for now. And the tracker placed on Robin is back online.

-Daisy looks behind her and watches them-

Mack: *pointing to monitor* That places her inside that ship. So, taking out Talbot is one thing, *Daisy looks forward with an expression I can’t read* but we go to clear the civilians and rescue Robin, too.

May: Before the ship and the buildings collapse. *Daisy looks back again when she heads the door open*

Fitz: I’d like to get close and *Daisy looks forward again* test the buildings’ structural integrity.

-Daisy leaves the cockpit and heads into the command center as they all gather up, including YoYo-

YoYo: You asked to see me.

Daisy: *hands on hips* Yeah. *clears throat* I'm aware that we rolled the dice with Coulson, and I still believe we need him for this, but I will admit that I let my emotions *gestures* get the best of me. *looks at YoYo* I thought that Coulson was the only one who could keep us all on the same page. *To Yo-Yo* *Gestures to her* You would say that's proof that I can't do the job. That I shouldn't lead. Well, I agree. *YoYo looks shocked* The truth is, I can't hold the team together. *Looks at Mack* But he can. *Mack is shocked* Coulson wants me to call the shots in his absence, well, that's my decision. Mack should call the shots. He has the biggest heart. I mean physically but also, you know. You are our moral center. Look, I never want to stop being a soldier. He's a general we can all rally behind. Anyone who thinks I'm 100% right about this, raise your hand.

-Everyone, with exception of Mack, raises their hands. Offscreen, we hear Coulson’s voice.

Coulson: Couldn't have said it better myself. *Camera pans and we see him standing off behind YoYo*

-Everyone lowers their hands and sighs in relief, notably May who stares at him. -

Coulson: Hold the applause. *walking past YoYo and giving her a look* She didn’t go through that for nothing. *goes to Daisy, standing in front of her holding up her gauntlets and customary uniform* Time to suit up. *Daisy takes them, and he turns around, addressing Mack* So…what do we do?

Mack: *breathes heavily* We save lives.



On the Chicago street, a fire truck pulls up and there’s chaos. A police officer runs to his patrol car, telling a man and a woman to get down, they crouch behind the car and then the officer gets on the radio. He announces that this is the Chicago PD and commands Talbot, “Hanes above your head, or we will open fire!”

Talbot had been listening to him but looks forward, telling himself, “All that would be is noise. Right now, I want quiet. I can feel my future power coursing through the ground below.”

The cop pulls out his gun and gets it ready. The black lady says she has a feeling that isn’t gonna do much. The cop looks towards Talbot. “It is feeling that way.”

Everyone’s phone starts going (with Android and iPhone ringtones). The Cop asks, “Who is it?” and we hear Mack’s voice coming from a few different phones. “Officers on the round, first responders, this is SHIELD. We’re here to help.”

Cop: Oh, thank God.

Mack: *continues* We have an aircraft to evacuate any civilians trapped near the center of the city. *voice more nearer* You’ll know it when you see it. Get them there.

-We see a Pilot episode-esque montage as Piper, Simmons, Elena, and other start to help get people onto Zephyr once the gangway is down-

Mack’s voice over continues as we see him, May, and Fitz running up stairs with flashlights, “We will clear the high floors of the impacted buildings before they collapse. And most importantly, do not engage the enemy. I repeat, do not engage the enemy. We will handle it.”



As Mack says that last part, we see Davis piloting a QJ, with an out-of-focus Coulson and Daisy behind him. They then come into focus.



The montage ends with May, Fitz, and Mack coming into the upper floor of a building. They help/usher some maintenance workers out of a room full of debris. Fitz will give them some light and show them the way to the stairwell.

Mack and May look around after Fitz and then leave and are surprised by a sudden appearance of Robin, who comes out of debris from the ship, wearing her backpack and holding the large globe.

Robin: *crying* Mom?

May: Robin?

-Mack goes and picks up Robin and then hands her off to May, who quickly takes her into a hug-

May: It’s okay, it’s okay, Robin. You’re okay.

Robin: Mom, *Breaks the hug* they took her away from me. They took her away.

Mack: *starts to look at the ship debris* The hull of the ship is busted. She must have climbed out. *Looking down at Robin* Your mother, Polly, is she in there? *Robin nods yes* *he starts to climb up there*

May: *still holding onto Robin* *To Robin* Okay. *To Mack* Check the detention level, bottom deck!

Mack; Okay, you stay with her! *climbs up further*

-When he’s gone, May gives Robin a look and then pulls her into another, tighter, hug-



Mack climbs the wreckage and starts to make his way down the ship’s dark and quiet corridors.



Cut to the QJ which Davis has landed. Daisy had been looking out the windshield and then turns to face Coulson (who really does NOT look so well as he holds on to the bar above him).

Daisy: All right. I’ll hit Talbot hard, neutralize the threat, restrain him, and you can walk right up and do the talking. *walks past him so she now has her back to him*

Coulson: *facing the opposite direction* I’m not going.

Daisy: *stops in her tracks, looks back at him* What? Why?

Coulson: *turns around but keeps his hand on the bar* Because I can barely stand. *breathing heavily* *Daisy looks him up and down*

-The camera pans up and focuses on robot-hand which is doing all the work. Daisy gets a look of realization-

Daisy: You didn’t take it.

Coulson: It didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel like the way this was supposed to go. *trying to be funny* I’d have told you on the Zephyr, *smiling* but you’d have pinned me down and jammed that syringe into my neck right there.

Daisy: *not amused* Damn straight.

Coulson: *breathing heavily still* I’m sorry.

D: *starts to say something but doesn’t, looks away, and then looks back* You’re the only one who can reach Talbot.

C: That’s not true. And I think we may be beyond that. If so, you’re the only one who can defeat him. *Daisy sighs and closes her eyes* Appeal to him as a military man. He took an oath when he enlisted.

D: *shaking her head and turning around somewhat* I can’t believe this. *paces* I can’t believe this. I can’t- *faces Coulson again* I can’t do it. I can’t go out there, especially not alone.

C: *takes his hand off the bar and walks to her* I’ve given you all the tools you need to handle this. *Daisy doesn’t look at him and puts her hands on her hips* Now you find the strength in you heart to appeal to his good nature, and if you can’t, find the strength in your arms to beat his ass senseless.

-There’s a loud rumbling sound outside and the QJ shakes-

C; *still taking labored breaths* We’re out of time. *nods* Go.

-Coulson goes to the button and lowers the gangway. Daisy shoots him a look but walks off. She turns around and stops, though-

D: You take it! Do you hear me?! *pointing* You fly back, and you take it! *exterior shot that matches Voss’s video* we fought for you. We fought each other for you.

Coulson punches the button, raising the gangway, pushes a jump seat down, and falls onto to it, looking in her direction, and then looks away in a look I cannot identify-



Cut to Mack advancing down a corridor of the ship as he rounds a corner. He whispers for Polly and hears a distant reply before ending up starting to use shotgun-axe to work to free her from the cell.



Back to Robin and May: They are joined by Fitz who returns from helping those guys out. He is happy to see Robin and asks, “Where’s Mack?” while he clicks his flashlight off. May breaks her hug with Robin (but still holds on to her), “In the ship. He went to find Polly.”

Fitz breathes heavily and looks at the globe which appears to be half covered in Sharpie. Fitz’s eyes go wide. “May…neither of them make it.”

All three then look at the ship’s debris with Fitz saying, “Oh, no,” as the music swells.



Cutting back to Mack, he has cut through the door enough to begin to use his bare hands to slide the door open. Polly is freed and out while Mack manages to avoid slamming his fingers in the door as it closes.

Polly: *panting* Oh, thank God you’re here.

Mack: *standing up* You okay?

P: Yeah. Robin?

M: Don’t worry. We have her. Let’s get you to her.

Polly answers, “Okay” and the camera pans around so that we see two Remoraths behind them, ready to do murders.



Talbot, meanwhile, is doing more of the Earth breakey-breakey thing, looking for more Gravitonium, while we see Daisy running down the middle of a street towards him.



Act 4

Talbot has his eyes closed and his back turned to the people behind. His face goes out of focus while Daisy comes in focus, still running. Quick transition and we see Daisy put her hands down at her sides, quaking the ground, giving her a boost right into a collision with Talbot.

They fly in the air, holding onto each other, and eventually end up skidding on the ground like flat rocks skipped over water. A metro bus winds up breaking their momentum.

Talbot is on his back against the bus and Daisy is over him, pinning him down.

D: Stop! People are dying!

T: This is war. Collateral damage is part of it. I need to arm myself so I can fight my enemies.

D: You are becoming the enemy, whether you believe it or not.

-Talbot breathes heavily while she still has him pinned and then looks away-



Meanwhile, on the ship, the two Remoraths close in on Mack and Polly, knives drawn. Mack backs up with an arm at Polly’s chest and tells her to run. She tells him that there is nowhere to go.

Mack punches the Bane mask off of one. He growls but is quickly tackled by May who literally comes flying in, knocking down the other one. May lands, the Marauder struggles, goes down, and May takes his knife and throws it to Fitz who shanks the other one.



On the QJ, Davis announces to Zephyr that docking is complete and that QJ 323 is on board. He takes off his headset and addresses Coulson, who we see as a blurry figure in BAD SHAPE. “You want me to call for some assistance, sir? You don’t look too go-“ Davis looks behind him and sees Coulson stretched out and limp in the jump seat. He’s not on the floor because he (somehow) managed to secure himself with the harness.

Davis freaks out and runs to him, unbuckling the harness, but Coulson is unresponsive. Daisy’s voice is overlaid over this scene as we cut back to her and Talbot.



Daisy: It’s not too late.

-Scene jumps to show them-

Daisy: *still with her hand on his chest* Think about your son.

Talbot: I’m doing this for him.

D: Did you see it in his face? How scared he was?

T: It’s just because I seem different. I’m becoming the most powerful being in the universe. *struggling against her hand* He’ll see it one day. *smiles* The end justifies the means, right?

D: *stands up* The only people who say that…are the people doing bad things.

T: I’m becoming a hero.

D: You are one.

-They share looks, and Talbot seems to be turning to the good side. Daisy holds out her hand. He takes it and she helps him stand up. –

D: The minute that you enlisted, you became one. We all did. *Talbot has a seething anger look* Look around. *Talbot looks at cops and firefighters* You’re surrounded by them. Anyone who signs up for this, *he looks around some more* to lose friends or limbs or your mind or your life in protection of humanity. *He looks right at her* We are in this together. We need to join forces.

T: *smiles, looks down, and back up at her* That sounds good. *Daisy is falling for his demeanor* You know, Hale gave me that speech, just before she tortured me. *Daisy inherits Coulson’s ‘I’m Fitzed’ face* Coulson says it every time he’s gonna stab me in the back. Humanity is on the brink. And I alone can fix it.

-We hear Daisy’s powers, but she is too slow, and Talbot uses the Force to bring her into his arms. –

T: But you’re right. We should join forces.

-He takes her, and they ascend straight up in the air quickly. She struggles but is ultimately stuck in his grasp. –



Cut to Robin who suddenly looks forward and then over the ship debris. May is helping Polly climb over the wreckage. Polly and Robin run to each other and May starts to usher them out, leaving Mack and Fitz behind them. Fitz is still climbing down from the wreckage.

On Zephyr. Jemma says to Elena, “Now that Davis is back, let’s get ready to get up and out of here. The Zephyr is filling up fast.”

That’s when Davis yells for people to get out of his way as he half carries/half drags the stubborn bastard…I mean Coulson…into the command center with his hands together under his arms Davis lays him down on the floor and damn Clark is an expert at the statue game.

Jemma jumps into action and Davis, continuing to freak out, informs her that he isn’t breathing. Jemma says that isn’t possible as she screened for possible side effects. Yeah about that….



Back to Talbot and Daisy: Talbot continues taking them straight up until they are above the city’s skyline where he then holds her down and sends them both back down to the Earth, full speed.



The impact with the ground sends off a shockwave that shakes and rumbles the buildings around them. We see Mack and May struggle to stay on their feet as the ceiling collapses on Fitz who is quick to cover his head.

May and Mack call Fitz’s name, run over to the rubble, and start to work to uncover him.



On Zephyr, everyone is knocked off balance by the shockwave while Coulson just lays there on the floor (still kinda with a smile on his face?)

Jemma and Elena are crouched over him on the floor. Elena is in tears when she looks at Jemma, “Why did he listen to me?’

Jemma gets a look and takes off towards the med-bay. Elena starts chest compressions. “What have I done? Forgive me.” She repeats that in Spanish over and over.



Meanwhile, Daisy gasps, rolling over from the impact and with Talbot standing over her.

T: I’ll be able to get that buried treasure a lot faster once I can quake the ground apart.

D: *trying to crawl away* Please….

-Talbot grabs her with both hands on her back and lifts her so that he has her in an arm lock, burying her head in his elbow. –

T: I’m gonna need every weapon I can get in this fight.

-He turns his hand to Gravitonium and then starts to circle her with the element. She looks like she is thinking, ‘What the Fitz is he doing?’

Jemma runs to the med-bay. The Centipede Serum Injector box is empty.



Polly and Robin are rushing downstairs holding hands. Robin stops at a landing. Polly stops and sees what the hold up is; “Something’s different.”



Daisy has her arms crossed against her chest, struggling against Talbot.



Elena continues chest compressions, shouting in Spanish. Jemma runs in telling YoYo that, “It’s gone! Get the defibrillator now!”

The scenes goes into slow motion as Elena continues repeating, “Dios mio,” and a prayer as Jemma runs and Davis protects his face from falling sparks.

Elena’s prayer plays as we see Mack and May continue to dig Fitz out while Daisy finds the needle with the serum shoved in her left gauntlet. Daisy takes a few seconds before injecting herself in the neck. Elena continues her compressions. Daisy starts to be totally absorbed by the Gravitonium, but her eyes glow red and she repels it and Talbot back, her face showing the Extremis serum veins.



Talbot is pushed back into the wall of the crater. He gets up off the ground, pops his neck and says, “Well, now I’ll just break you in half,” and charges Daisy who falls onto her back and responds by shooting like a rocket him through the atmosphere and into space. The sonic boom shatters windows.



On Zephyr, we get an overhead shot of Coulson, (who kind of has a smile on his face?) who suddenly regains consciousness, gasping and coughing. Everyone sighs with relief, notably Jemma who looks away, smiling with a hand on Elena’s shoulder.



Cut to the scene I had to do first…. Mack and May remove enough rubble to find Fitz’s trembling hand. May says, “Okay” and Mack says “There you are. Buddy. You had me worried. We got you. Just hang in there,” as they work to remove more.



Cut to Daisy where we see a shot of her on the cracked ground fading into a shot of Talbot frozen in space, heading toward the sun.



Back to Fitz, Fitz groans as Mack and May continue to work. Fitz tells them that he hopes they saved some energy, ‘cause his leg’s pinned and he thinks it’s broke. Fitz chuckles at the thought he will have to be carried out.

Mack removes a large piece of rubble of Fitz’s lap and Fitz immediately pulls his hands out shaking in shock. Mack says. “Got you, Turbo.You just…” and then goes quiet and gets a look on his face when he and May see Fitz’s torso.

“I think it’s a bad break, ‘cause I can’t feel it,” Fitz says as he has the back of his hands on his eyes. The camera pans down and we that a piece of sheet metal has perforated Fitz’s stomach and side. May and Mack exchange hopeless looks in silence as they survey the damage while Fitz shudders and shakes in shock. Mack gets on his knees at Fitz’s side while Fitz shakily looks over both of his hands.

Mack pats Fitz’s chest. “Relax. Buddy. You just breathe.” Fitz calms down and looks at Mack saying, “Huh, okay” before Mack takes his hand saying he will stay with Fitz and that they will find a way out of this.

Hearing this, Fitz repeats “OK” a few times and sighs resting his head for a few seconds before telling them with shaking hands that they should get Polly out ‘cause she’s in danger. May bends down and tells him quietly, “She’s safe now.”

Mack: *looking directly at Fitz, still holding his hand* Hey, you got her out. You did good, Turbo. You did really good.”

There’s another silent moment as Fitz rests his head again and then looks directly at Mack again.

Fitz: Hey, Mack….I think my legs are broken.

Mack: *small forced smile* You’ve been through worse.

More silence. Fitz draws his last breath. Mack and May both cry.



Scene transitions as Coulson’s heart monitor fades into the screen. He is stable (for now) when Simmons pulls the blanket up further. She is at first happy when Mack walks in the room slowly but her face changes once she makes the realization.



Act 5

· Back from break, we see the plaque being engraved with “In Remembrance of.”

· Simmons packs a suitcase. She takes a picture of her and Fitz (maybe the one from the episode you all hate?) and adds it to the suitcase that already contains clothes for her and Fitz and an ICER with an extra cartridge.

· Elena walks down a corridor and then joins Mack in his arms as he sits on the floor.

· *Simmons takes the suitcase and grabs the newer multitool from Deke’s room which is now empty and clean.

· Daisy burns Robin’s drawings.

· May takes a sledgehammer to the monolith shard while Piper watches.

· Davis places the plaque in the Zephyr’s cockpit.

The montage ends with May pouring 6 glasses of (Scotch?) while five of the remaining six are gathered in the Zephyr’s cargo hold. Mack takes three of the glasses for him, YoYo and Daisy and May hands Coulson a glass.

There’s silence for a few moments and Coulson says, “Come on. This is a celebration, not a funeral.” There’s more silence and they are joined by Jemma who comes down the ladder. Daisy hands her a glass. More silence and they all give each other looks.

Mack: *looking around* Remember how good it felt to walk in here when we first got back? The Zephyr’s…been the one place we’ve been able to call home these last few years. *He and YoYo share a smile*

Daisy: I’ll always miss the Bus.

May: *smiles* Me, too.

YoYo: *looking at all of them* I wish I would’ve known you guys back then.

Jemma; We were different people back then.

-There’s a moment of contemplative silence-

Coulson: *drawing a breath first* I spent a lot of years… (Clark has to restart or forgets his line maybe?) *sighs deeply* I’ve lived a life surrounded by heroes. None bigger than all of you. Since the day you joined, same as anyone in the line of duty. *makes eye contact with everyone* Heroes…because you…*directly at Daisy, gesturing*…because we sin up to lose each other. To get close to good people and have them taken away. *directly at Jemma*We’ve all suffered losses. Never lose sight of that.

Daisy: I never forget those we’ve lost.

May: That’s right. *Coulson looks directly at her*

Mack: Yeah. *choking up* That’s why we’re putting that bade up in the cockpit. To never forget.

Coulson: You don’t have to forget. But you have to move on.

Jemma: *crying* No. With respect, sir, you’re wrong. We don’t move on. We hold that place in our heart, we close it off, we lock the door, we visit from time to time, but we don’t move on. *looks directly at Coulson* Even after we say goodbye.

Coulson: *looking directly at Jemma* I’m just sad I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to Fitz. *there’s a moment of silence* But you’ll tell him for me.

Jemma: *smiles* *music starts quietly* Of course. He’ll be sad he missed this little memorial.

Coulson: Hey. I’m not dead yet.

Jemma: Sorry. Retirement party.

Coulson: I’m not sure this even qualifies as a party. Nobody’s drinking yet. *looks at May*

-We cut to the cockpit where Davis is polishing the plaque above the cockpit-

-Back to the ‘Party’-

Jemma: *walking to Coulson, pulling out something from her back pocket* I want you to have this. *giving Coulson the Lake Ontario postcard* A picture of our new home away from home. And to remind you that…your team always worked the problem, no matter what the odds.

Coulson: *flips the postcard over* *” Working on it-Fitz”* *obviously ADRed line* And now he’s frozen, out in deep space somewhere, no idea he’s already solved it.

Jemma: *looking at postcard in Coulson’s hands* He’ll be a little disoriented. But he’ll be so happy to know that time in not fixed. It’s a fluid, ever-changing, beautiful thing. And he didn’t miss much, did he?

Coulson: I have not a single doubt you will find him.

Jemma; *looking back at the others* None of us do.

-She and Coulson share a smile and then Jemma hugs him, breaking down in tears in his arms. She breaks the hug and steps away. -

Coulson: *looking at May and then everyone else* All right. *pause* *raises glass, followed by everyone else* *crying* Here’s to us, who’s like us – damn few.

-They all drink and then lower or set aside their glass-

Mack: Smooth.

YoYo: *walks over and hugs Coulson* Thank you, boss. *walks away*

Coulson: *walks over to Mack*

-In the background we see May getting her stuff-

Mack: *after a few seconds of silence* Probably gonna call you every chance I can for advice.

Coulson: You won’t need it. And my phone is going in the ocean.

Mack: *smiles* *hugs Coulson*

-They break the hug and Mack goes and holds hands with YoYo and Coulson walks over to Daisy. They share a moment of silence as Daisy sniffles, trying to get the ability to speak-

Daisy: How long did Simmons say you have?

Coulson: Days. Weeks, if I’m lucky. But it’ll be time well-spent. *pause* I left you something in your bunk. It’s a letter. Nothing fancy. Basically, just says how proud I am of you. *smiles* *pause* I am so proud.

Daisy: *hugs Coulson* *crying* I love you.

Coulson: *crying* I love you, too.

Daisy: *finally breaks the hug and steps back* *sniffles* And, uh…. thanks for the spaceship.

Coulson: Yeah. Don’t mention it.

Coulson shares one more look with Daisy and then grabs his duffel bag, opens the gangway ramp, looks at what’s in front of him. We see the team as blurry figures behind him until he looks back at them one more time and they come into focus. Coulson then pulls out his aviators and slowly makes his way onto a white sandy beach.



Next, we see a close up of the Hula doll bobblehead as Daisy puts it on Zephyr’s dashboard. She sits down in the co-pilots seat as Davis revvs up the Zephyr’s engines. Piper sits down as well, as she gives Daisy a look. Jemma walks into the cockpit. Daisy nods at Davis who lifts Zephyr off the ground. Mack and YoYo join them.



On the beach, Coulson walks forward and looks at the horizon. “Gotta say…it’s pretty magical.” Just then, May appears next to him. “Hmm,”

May: So…anything else on your bucket list?

Coulson: *looks at her and back at the view* Just one thing.

May: Parasailing?

Coulson: Yeah. Parasailing. Always wanted to try that.

May laughs and they hold hands (Coulson reached for hers first)



On Zephyr, Daisy has her feet on the console. “All right, Director, where to first?” The Director looks at Jemma and the two smiles. On the beach, Coulson and May watch the Zephyr take off and head toward space, as May rests her head on his shoulder and they smile.
