Okay so how about this?
Maybe all the dust people are in the soul stone (or select heroes)?
The stones seemed to sort of work together - the tesseract sent Red Skull to guard (sort of) the soul stone, the mind stone kept warning vision that Thanos was coming etc. So what if Strange's bond with the time stone and Vision and Wanda's bond with the mind stone come into play? Wanda made a HUGE sacrifice as well (albeit in trying to destroy one of the stones). With Wanda and Strange both inside the soul stone they have some powerful magic there to try and find a way out.
Plus they have already introduced

I'll be spending next weekend with some family I like and trying to avoid any remotely controversial conversations with others that I spend the rest of the year avoiding
