Act 1 #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree #ProtectMack
On the Quinjet flying over HEREFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND, Simmons remarks that it feels good to be home as she loads her weapon and holsters it. She just didn’t think it would be under these circumstances. Simmons asks Fitz if he packed the explosives. He did. Did he pack the extra ammunition? Of course. Simmons just want this to all work. Fitz tells her she made a choice, don’t look back.
YoYo, handing Fitz a tablet to pack in his backpack, asks what the chances they find the weapon here. Fitz explains that this is one of the locations Malick gave up and was a crucial Hydra R and D site, so it’s their best bet, by far. Fitz then clicks the monitor in the back and says autopilot will land the QJ nearby and keep it cloaked until they get it back.
They all asks if each other is ready and prepare to skydive. Simmons helps Fitz buckle up his backpack since he’s the pack mule. As she does, she tells Fitz she was thinking they could come back to England for their honeymoon, if they ever got one. Fitz thinks that sounds perfect. YoYo does not want to be made into the third wheel and then jumps. Fitz and Simmons then jump after commenting about how Fitz had no trouble with the straps and how they’ve come a long way.
Cue Title Card
Back on the Totally-Not-Providence set, Coulson and Talbot round a trail. Talbot stops and says he has gotta take five. Coulson, still a part time herding dog, goes up to him and put his hand on Talbot’s arm saying, “No, no, no. No, no, no. We could’ve been followed. We can’t stop now. Come on.” (Agent Michael Casper once had to say a line with that many “no’s” as well.) Coulson tries to get Talbot to move but the general doesn’t budge.
“Come on, what do you care? You left me alone for months, Phil. I’m sure you can manage another couple of minutes, can’t you?” Talbot exhales and then turns to face a tree and tells himself to not jump down his throat because he’s all that you got.
Coulson had watched this and then comes closer behind him. He apologizes for not finding Talbot sooner, “for what it’s worth”. Coulson then attempts to shepherd Talbot again and succeeds this time. Talbot asks, “Just trying to hold out, Phil. Where were you?” as he moves.
Coulson answers nonchalantly, “We were in the future” as he guides Talbot. Talbot stops in his tracks and laughs, repeating the answer, “What, do you guys live in some fifth-dimension freak show?” Coulson would say that is an accurate description of their day-to-day life.
Talbot says, “Yeah, well, not mine. If we get out of here, I’m-I’m done! *turns around* I’m too jumbled as it is.”
Coulson turns Talbot around to face him. “Hey. You gonna let someone like Hale get the best of you? Huh?”
Talbot replies, seriously, “She broke me, Phil. I let down the Air Force, my country…and I let down my family. I’m never gonna be able to look Carla in the eye again.”
Coulson turns Talbot around to face him and promises him that no one’s gonna see it that way. Talbot says, “Yeah? Well, I do.” as Coulson grabs his arm and they start walking again. Talbot says it’s a moot point anyway if they freeze to death and Coulson says that is why they have to keep moving.
Back at the Hydra base, Ruby finds the door to the 084-room open, goes in, and uses the 084 to transport herself to where they went after putting on her hood and mask. She follows their trail in the snow.
On Zephyr, Daisy tells May they’ll never find them, they’ve been circling the Trident Range for hours (there is no Trident Range, but there is a Mt. Trident in the Aleutian range of Alaska). There’s no sign of Coulson and whoever he’s with. Deke hears this and says that’s a surprise since they are following such a detailed map.
May says that Robin has been right about everything else and Deke asks, “Yeah, well, what if this doesn’t happen for another month or—or a year? Would it kill her to draw a calendar?”
May asks, “Why don’t you go ask her?” and Deke says that he thought he left all this prophecy crap in the future. Daisy tells Daisy that he’s not helping.
Daisy then goes to May and speaks quieter. She wants to change tactics and land, canvas the area, let Coulson find them. The cloud cover is too thick anyway. May says that Hale’s hideout could be nearby. They’d be exposed. Daisy replies, “Give him a shot” and May agrees, if Daisy thinks it’s the right call. Daisy tells Davis to find a place to set her down. Anywhere.
Back on the Trident Range, Coulson says they should start looking for shelter, maybe get a fire going. Was Talbot ever a Boy Scout? Talbot starts to say that a Brigadier General outranks a Boy Scout, Coulson, but is interrupted by the sound of a chakram cutting through tree branches above them.
Talbot drops to a knee and holds up his fist in the sign for “hold position”. They look ahead and see Ruby. Coulson says, “Run!” and they take off, pursued by Ruby who catches her chakram in the mid-air. They continue running until Talbot trips and falls and Coulson runs to him to help him get up.
As Ruby comes to finish them off, we hear Daisy’s quake powers and see Ruby quaked back. She hits her head on a rock hard (and the Styrofoam is clearly Styrofoam). May and a few others come from behind Coulson and Coulson observes, “You got you powers back.” Daisy tells him it’s a long story and then orders May and Deke to get Coulson and Talbot back to the Zephyr. Daisy will take care of Ruby.
May says, “Not a chance” and Daisy argues that it’s a rescue mission. “Look at them”. May does look at them and then agrees. They get Talbot off the ground and then Coulson and May each take one of his arms over their shoulder. Coulson asks May how they found them and May answers, “Robin.” Coulson responds, “A little bit like cheating, don’t you think?” May tells him to keep moving. As he walks away, Daisy orders Deke to watch their back.
Ruby breathes heavily and takes off her mask. She picks up her chakram.
Ruby: Wow. The Legendary Quake. *messes with her hair* You know, you’re much prettier in person.
Daisy: And meaner, so I’d stay where you are.
R: It’s funny. I have your poster up on my wall. You’re like that, uh…hero…that every little girl wants to be when they grow up.
D: Mm. Looks like you made a wrong turn along the way.
R: *cocks head* No, I’m just engineered differently. I don’t want to be you. I want to beat you.
D: You can certainly try.
Hey fight. We see Deke take cover and get ready to fire his gun behind a tree. Daisy gets sliced by the chakram at one point but only used her powers to begin. Finally, she uses them again and knocks Ruby back into a tree.
Daisy starts to walk to knocked out Ruby but is met by Deke, who doesn’t think Ruby is getting up from that. Daisy asks what he is still doing here. Deke thought Ruby had Daisy for a sec. He starts to say more but is interrupted by machine gun fire. Deke gets hit and goes down. Daisy manages to get to him, get him up, and take off with him.
Camera cuts and we see that Hale and her minions are responsible for the gunfire. Hale motions and then calls for an extraction team. Hale then sees Ruby get up and they lock eyes. Ruby cocks her head again.
On the Zephyr, Daisy carries Deke up the cargo ramp. Coulson and May meet them and help get him on the ground. Coulson tells May to get this plane in the air as he holds his hand on Deke’s bleeding chest. Deke is shaking and kicking his feet as Daisy and Coulson try to put pressure on the wound.
Act 2 #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree #ProtectMack
Daisy tells Coulson that she can’t stop the bleeding and has him grab the hemostatic granules. He does and then comes back and opens the box. Daisy asks for scissors and Coulson hands them to her and then rips a package open, hoping the thing has instructions. The thing is prepared, and Coulson tells Daisy to hold him still. Deke says that is not a good sign and Coulson jabs him with the needle. Deke screams. Whatever they did is working. They start to put cotton on the wound and Coulson says this is only a temporary fix. He will need actual medical attention.
May comes and Daisy tells her to call ahead to Simmons. May says that no one is answering. She asks if he can hold on until they get to the Lighthouse and Daisy tells her to just get there as fast as she can.
At the Lighthouse, Piper comes to bring Fitz his food. She finds Mack instead and he yells that it’s about damn time. The code is 62882 (which is no sugar honey ice and tea the zip code in IL that I was born in). Piper puts it in immediately after setting the tray down and asks, “What the hell? Is Fitz evil again?”
Mack tells her what happened, and Piper asks, “Why? Where did they go?”
Cut to a scene THAT WAS ACTUALLY SHOT ON LOCATION. The three move down a hill beside a bridge. Fitz and Simmons have their guns drawn. They go up another hill and see a fence lined with radiation poison warning signs. Elena says that radiation poisoning would be a horrible way to find out they can still die. Simmons sees a flower, Primula vulgaris, primrose, and says that it’s safe because even it couldn’t survive irradiated soil. Fitz confirms they are safe because his Geiger counter (JD) shows less radiation than a dentist’s office.
They move forward, and Simmons says that Talbot probably put up those signs to scare off interlopers. Elena says they won’t scare off Hydra and they advance. They come to a gate and Elena breaks the lock. Fitz says that Elena getting her arms cut off obviously wasn’t all that bad and then immediately tries to walk it back. “Maybe there is a silver lining…” Simmons cuts him off and says that as much as she is enjoying this day in the country, they have a job to do. Elena goes through the gate and Fitz tells his wife, “After you, better half.”
In Z1’s cargo bay, Daisy brings Deke some pills and water and has him take them. They’re landing soon. Daisy tells him that what he did back there was reckless. He was the reason they had to retreat. Deke apologizes, next time he will try to keep his blood inside of his body. Daisy had Hale’s daughter down for the count. Deke was just going to secure her weapon like any other agent would. Daisy tells him that he is not an agent. Deke questions this because she orders him around like one. He tells her this top-dog think doesn’t suit her.
Daisy asks what does it matter if Deke doesn’t listen? She can’t fight and protect Deke’s dumb ass at the same time. Deke tells her she is the worst. They fight some more, and Deke falls off the jump seat, spitting up blood.
Cut to the Lighthouse where Mack and Piper are rushing to meet the gang from the Zephyr. As soon as they come from the blast door, all pushing Deke’s stretcher, May asks where Mack has been and tells him to get Simmons. They need her.
Mack tells her that Simmons is not there. She and YoYo locked him in Fitz’s cell. They ran off to who knows where. Coulson asks, “Fitz’s cell? Must be the long story you mentioned.” Daisy tells Coulson “Yeah” but then addresses Mack saying she left him in charge and asks what the hell happened. (Didn’t he just answer that?) Mack replies that they think they can’t be killed. “You try arguing with someone who’s totally irrational.” Coulson, seeing an opportunity to be relevant to this conversation again, says they will decide who’s rational later. “What are we gonna do for Deke?”
Daisy says that he is coughing up blood so if Simmons is AWOL they need to get him to a hospital. May says they do not have time for that and asks Piper what they are looking at since she was studying to be the strike team’s field medic.
Piper says that he is in shock. If they don’t get him a blood transfusion soon…Daisy says there is no choice. Treat him here. Piper does not have field experience and says there’s no way. Mack tells her to talk him through it. He’s not afraid of blood, he has a steady hand, and Hawkeye made it look easy.
At Hydra, Hale tells Ruby that she should put some ice on that.
Ruby: That’s not necessary.
Hale: I need you at your best.
R: When am I not? You know, I could’ve beaten Daisy Johnson today if you hadn’t forced her to run.
H: Too much of a risk. She’s got an unfair advantage. Once we complete our objective, you’ll be able to beat her without breaking a sweat.
Ruby stops walking and faces her mom.
R: So, move up the timetable, then.
H: No, not until Creel tells us more about the Gravitonium. Now get in.
Hale looks at Ruby’s open door. Ruby’s jaw drops.
R: Are you serious?
H: You went against my orders, nearly murdered Creel. We need him for this.
R: For what? He’s dangerous. He’s completely out of your control.
H: Yes, as are you. That’s why I’m putting you both back in your cage.
Ruby starts to walk in the opposite direction but Hale pins her against the wall.
H: Do I need to force you?
Ruby goes in and goes slack jawed when seeing that her room has been stripped of everything but the furniture. Ruby, you should be happy to that she did not put you in Coulson’s old room. Now THAT would be cruel.
Back with the Invincible Trio, they sneak around some more and come to a stop. Fitz kneels down, working his tablet. Power is being diverted to the second floor of the building but according to the building plan, there is nothing there. Simmons says that bad guys rarely marl heir evil lairs on blueprints. They’ll find a way to locate it once they get inside. Fitz says they may need to improve that bit. Elena says they are improvising all the bits and asks if they have any idea what the weapon in there is. Simmons says they will blow it up regardless.
Fitz tells them to hold on. He is reading an encrypted radio signal headed for them. They all move and take cover. A truck passes and three Robo Minions hop off. They then see the Inferior who nods at the Minions and tells them, “Inside.” (And the Minions only know English?).
Simmons says that if Anton Stupidnov is providing security, it means they are in the right place. Fitz adds, “And lost our advantage.”
Elena: A man who can’t die huh? (In Spanish) Marvelous.
In other words: challenge accepted.
Act 3 #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree #ProtectMack
At the Lighthouse, Mack and Piper use SHIELD’s Wiki How database to perform Deke’s surgery. Mack says that it’s almost cleaned out and asks where they go from here. Piper thinks Deke has blood in his chest cavity, a hemothorax. They need to stop the bleeding and drain it. Piper hands him a scalpel.
Piper: You'll have to cut through the wound, so we can see what we're doing.
Mack: What about anesthesia?
Piper: Well, he's already unconscious, and I haven't read that chapter yet, so we'll just figure it out as we go.
Off to the side, Coulson and Talbot are watching. Talbot is shrouded in a blanket.
Talbot: So, this kid's from the future.
Coulson: Yeah. And in that future, Earth is gone, and humanity is enslaved by alien overlords.
Talbot (laughing): Alien over... I should have stayed in my cell. You're telling me we got our asses handed to us by little green men?
Coulson: They were big. And blue. But they didn't crack the world apart. They said it was Daisy.
Talbot: And you're still sending her on missions.
Coulson: I need her leading missions. I have an old injury acting up. Not sure what my time table is exactly.
Talbot: Oh, for the love of flapjacks. Do you ever have any good news?
Coulson: There's a young inhuman who's seen a better future. We're working toward that.
May appears and asks if there is anything else they can do for Deke. Coulson looks back at Deke and says they’re there if they need a hand. May asks to talk to Coulson for a second. Coulson leaves Talbot’s side and Talbot gives Deke a look….
Out in the corridor…
Coulson: We need to talk about Fitz-Simmons and YoYo. If they really believe they can’t be killed—
May: That's not the conversation we're having right now.
Coulson: Oh, then what is the conversation we're having right now?
May: Oh, the one where you explain all the stupid decisions you've been making lately.
Coulson: That's rather specific.
May: Giving yourself up to Hale? Wasn't a...
Coulson: She was about to blow up the Zephyr. What did you want me to do?
May: I don't know. Stall her long enough for me to get to the cockpit. You hold on while I throw the plane into a vertical dive. Maybe it knocks out Creel long...
Coulson: You want to get to a point?
May: The point is, you didn't even try. You just rolled over without a fight.
Coulson: I did what I thought was best and it got results. We rescued Talbot and learned about Hale's agenda.
May: Yeah, and nearly lost Deke in the process.
Coulson: He should have listened to Daisy.
May: Well maybe Daisy shouldn't have been put in the position in the first place.
Coulson: You don't think she should lead?
May: Uh-uh. I didn't say that. But she does need time, she's questioning herself...
Coulson: I question myself every day.
May (interrupting): Let me speak. All Daisy could think about was getting you back. She's not ready for your job Phil.
Coulson: She has to be. My time is running out.
May: Because you're being irresponsible. You said you weren't in a hurry to die, but you're not acting like it.
Coulson: So, this isn't so much about my stupidity, as it is about me dying.
May: Seems like one thing led to the other.
Coulson: You realize this isn't easy for me. But I've accepted it.
May: Which is the problem.
Coulson: Maybe I'm reckless, but if this is the end, better to go out doing something that matters.
May: No. You don't get to make that decision alone. That decision is made with the people who love you.
Coulson: May...
May: And that's me. I love you. *Coulson is silent* Thought that would shut you up.
Coulson looks like his hard drive has crashed as May walks away. I’m sure Coulson is standing in that same spot to this day. That is the last time we see both May and Coulson.
At Hydra, Alex walks the corridor and finds Ruby’s door. He remembers the passcode to get in and joins her.
Ruby is pacing when he enters. She tells him he is not supposed to be there, and he tells her that he wanted Ruby to know before ‘her’. Alex shows her the notebooks on her bed saying it’s all there. He asks her if she is ready. Ruby sighs and says that “she” won’t let her. Alex asks why and Ruby answers, “More tests. Creel betrayed us, but she’ll still listen to every word that he says.”
Alex responds, “You said this was ours. You don’t have to follow her orders anymore.” Ruby tells him, “She locked me in here. I don’t have a choice.”
Alex says that of course Ruby does. Ruby could tear her apart if Ruby wanted. “So, why don’t you?” Ruby doesn’t know.
Back in England, the Invincible Three’s Plan A is to follow the signals that the Minions are sending back and forth. Elena calls this plan ambitious as they head upstairs. Fitz, fiddling with something in his backpack, says that is why they have a Plan B.
Entering a hallway, the three see/hear the Inferior on the phone. He tells Hale that they have found the chamber and are looking it over as they speak. Hale says that they’ll join them as soon as Strucker finishes the plans so keep it secure until then. The Inferior says that will not be a problem as long Hale keeps her word.
Hale says he will have his chance with the chamber. He calls that another step towards becoming the superior man. He hopes it is as powerful as Hale promised. Hale says, “As do I” and Fitz takes that as an opportunity to activate the Claymores? That they left outside.
The Russian and his minions fall for the distraction. Hale asks what that sound was, and the Russian tells her it was nothing he can’t handle.
They advance down the hallway (Fitz closes the gate behind him). Elena asks what those mechs were guarding and Simmons notes that the fire hose is not connected to a water main. She finds a lever and opens the same firewall from that place in St. Louis because all the money went to filming on location and on borrowing stuff and tips from the nearest ABC medical drama.
They enter the warehouse. Elena breaks the handle on their side and they start looking things over. Fitz picks up something and looks it over. Elena says to destroy all of it and Fitz wishes they had more explosives and points out that it won’t be long until they realize that they’ve slipped through their defenses. He then sees a tarp covering something big and pulls it off, revealing the chamber.
Elena pushes a cart against the wall. They all look at it and Simmons says they can cut out its heart once they figure out what that thing does and to whom.
As they walk down a corridor (AKA The Corridor) at Hydra, Lee, Hale’s second, asks if Hale thinks Stupidnov can be trusted. Hale says that the Russian’s interests align with hers for now and that he wants to be first into the chamber. Hale wants to see what it does to human flesh. Lee smiles evilly and asks if Hale would like her to accompany her. Hale wants Lee to stay focused on their contingency plan. Lee knows the message that needs to be sent (POOR TALBOT!). Lee says, “Of course, General” and leaves.
Hale sees that Ruby’s door is open. She finds Ruby still in her room. She assumed Stucker opened the door. She’s surprised Ruby is not with Strucker right now. Ruby asks where they would go? It doesn’t matter if there’s a lock on that door or not. Ruby would never run from Hale.
Hale: I’ve kept you safe.
R: You’ve kept me obedient. And I’ve let you control me. And I have no idea why.
H: *leaving the doorway* Ruby, I have great plans for you.
R: Like Whitehall had great plans for you? You have always said that you wanted a choice, but you’ve never given me one.
H: *puts her hand on Ruby* I-I know I’ve demanded a lot from you recently, but I –
R: *breaking free from her touch* No, Mom, you’ve demanded the impossible, and I have tried to be everything that you wanted me to be. I tried to eliminate weakness.
H: I know, I know.
R: *crying* I tried to be you! I’ve passed every test, and I’ve learned every lesson and I’m not enough!
H: I never said that.
R: I’m a disappointment. You said that, Mom. (Hale did, in 5x11) And after everything that you’ve done to me, I’ve kept trying, because all I’ve ever wanted to do is please you. *crocodile tears*
H: Ruby…
R: You’re my one weakness, Mom.
H: Ruby…*hugs Ruby*
R: *evil eyes* And I’m yours.
Hale goes wide eyed as she realizes her Fitz-up. Ruby effortlessly throws Hale over her shoulder and on the floor and starts to walk away.
H: Ruby stop!
R: *grabbing her gear* I’ll make you proud.
Should have locked her in Coulson’s cell, Ruby.
At the lab from the last episode, Alex enters and shoots all but one scientist, whom he orders to get it ready for transport now. Ruby joins him suited up. He asks how did it go? Ruby, “We’re free and clear.” They smile
Act 4 #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree #ProtectMack
Talbot is looking at an old-style map of Lake Ontario with River’s End featured. Behind him the door opens, and we see that in the reflection. Talbot turns and has a flashback of the DaisyLMD shooting him in the head. He blinks and grabs a tape dispenser off of what will become Grill’s desk later (this room is totally his office, there’s no hiding it because the furniture is the same). Daisy calms him down with an extended hand. Talbot apologizes, saying she startled him. He looks away from her and blinks some more, saying it’s bad enough he looks like a bottle brush. Daisy says he probably can’t look at her without remembering what happened.
Talbot still doesn’t look at her and cocks his head. “Not always in the driver seat. *finally looks at her* I know you didn’t try and kill me. I know that was a skin-job.”
Daisy: Still, I’m –I’m really sorry.
T: *holds up a hand and drops it* *walks toward the couch* I should apologize to you. You came on a rescue mission to try and save me. It went south. No, it’s too high of a risk. You should have never brought me here. (So, he realizes he’s been ‘programmed?’) *he sits down*
D: It’s—it’s okay, General. Um I brought you a change of clothes. *sets the down on coffee table* Is there anything else you need?
T: Thank you. *sets the tape dispenser down* I’d like to talk to my wife. You know, just to tell her I’m safe.
D: I’m sorry. Hale is still looking for us. We—We can’t have any contact with the outside world. We have to stay dark.
T: *puts his hands on his face* *yells* I said cat—cat! *Daisy flinches* *loud but not yelling* I scared George, and…*quietly* I need to talk to my son. I need him to know I haven’t forgotten him. *takes hands off head and looks at Daisy*
D: *getting at his level* *speaking softly* I’m sure he knows how much you love him.
Talbot balls his fists and then unclenches them as if he doesn’t know what to do. He then takes the tape dispenser off the coffee table and throws it into the Lake Ontario map as he yells, “I abandoned him, Agent Johnson!”
The glass shatters and the maps falls.
“You don’t get a second chance to fix a screw-up like that!”
Daisy sees that Talbot is choking back tears.
D: Maybe I can get word to them through a secure channel.
T: *turns back around* That’s all I’m asking for. *sees Daisy’s facial expression* *gestures at her* But that’s not why you’re here, is it.
D: We’re trying to figure out our next move. I need you to tell me what you can about the site Hale kept you in and…I need you to tell me everything you told her about us.
T: *sighs, looks down* *scratches ear* This could take a while.
Cut to Fitz going on all smashey-smashey on a key component of the chamber with a hammer. It won’t work without it. Simmons said it didn’t take long. Elena is blocking the entrance that they come in with a large ladder. She asks what exactly the machine does.
Simmons: It’s an Adaptive Particle Processor. Scans an element at the atomic level, and then this component (which Fitz just went to smash town on) converts it to be merged with the recipient’s DNA.
Fitz: We think it’s the same technology that gave Carl Creel his powers, and only his abilities are temporary and require physical touch.
S: Yeah, but the machine’s been upgraded, so if Hale were to use Gravitonium—
Y: Yeah, Yeah, I get it. No gizmo, no apocalypse.
S: But there’s always a chance that we’ve tried this before.
F: More than a chance. Previous selves probably came here, made all the same decisions, still failed to change the timeline.
S: You spoke to your older self in the future. Did she give you any clues, any specific ways to stop this from all happening again?
Y: We didn’t have much time. *looks down but then up at each of them* JACCUSE! I haven’t told anyone this, not even Mack. I didn’t want to put this on the team. *Fitz and Simmons look at each other*
F: What is it?
Y: We have to let Coulson die.
S: *confused* What? That – That doesn’t make sense.
Y: *Fitz moves closer* The other me, she said…trying to save him is what led to the end.
F: But…how—
There’s pounding on the door. Fitz and Simmons pull out their guns and Simmons observes that it is time to improvise and exit strategy.
Elena suggests the usual plan where she takes their guns and they go home. Fitz says it sounds brilliant to him and he and his wife move the cart from the wall. Elena says Mack will be sad to miss this and takes off.
She comes back, and sugar honey ice and tea has obviously gone wrong. Electricity crackles in her hands and Elena is in pain. Fitz pushes the cart back and Simmons goes to Elena asking her what’s wrong. Elena doesn’t answer as she continues being in pain.
In surgery, Piper comments on Mack’s furrowed brow. Is it about Elena or their patient? Mack answers as he does whatever to Deke’s chest. One minute, he’s terrified for her, the next minute he’s furious with her. Elena’s always been stubborn but ever since her arms…
Piper pushed blame onto herself but Mack tells her, “No don’t do that. You made a mistake.”
P: Yeah, a big mistake *hands Mack something and takes the thing he hands her* Like, do you even begin to make up for something like that?
M: I cut off my boss’s hand after I screwed the team. Well, you fix something else. That’s why I like engines, putting the pieces together…
Heart monitor alarms and beeps rapidly.
Piper: No, no, no, no, no, no. *rushes to grab sponge and hands it to Mack*
Mack: Piper, what do we do?
Piper: We need to find the source of the bleeding.
Mack: Bullet's in there. Must have nicked an artery. *digs it out drops it in dish* Alright, step 2.
Piper (reading from tablet): You have to clamp the artery before his blood pressure drops any more.
Mack (putting his hand into Deke's chest): Did not think I'd be doing this today.
Deke wakes up and starts struggling. What did they say about anesthesia?
Mack: Damn it, stay still.
P: *goes to help* We’re trying to help you! *moves a sheet aside and jabs him in the arm*
Deke stops struggling and his BP and heart rate steady.
M: That’s step two.
P: Yeah. Well, we’re gonna have to wait to high-five. Step three is you sew his artery shut so he doesn’t bleed out and die.
Back in England, YoYo continues to scream in pain. Fitz, pacing, says they need a new plan and Simmons asks what happened out there?
Elena explains it and they come to the conclusion that YoYo’s arms are not meant to go that fast. The interface of her arms is transmitting every electrical signal simultaneously. It’s overloading her nervous system. Through all this, Fitz as been knocking down shelves to create a barricade. Elena doesn’t need an explanation, she needs a solution!
Simmons joins in the barricading and they overturn a table. Fitz can’t recalibrate her arms, not here before the door gives out.
Simmons tells Elena to take cover. She and Fitz will draw them out while Elena finds a way out, make it to the QJ, and call for backup. Elena can fight, she thinks one of them should…they have a rule: they never leave each other’s side anymore (even to go the bathroom?)
The minions enter and Fitz and Simmons start firing in epic fashion, intermittently taking cover behind the overturned tables. Elena takes the opportunity and leaves. More Minions enter, and Fitz takes cover beside Simmons who is loading her weapon. He apologizes to her for not getting the honeymoon she dreamed of.
Simmons calls that nonsense. She’s protecting England from evil robots with the man she loves. (Can she be Captain Britain?) They kiss quickly and get back to loading their weapons.
They nod and stand up, back to back, and start firing, Mr. and Mrs. Smith style. They switch positions in a swift motion and…. Simmons’ gun jams. Fitz yells at her to go back, fires a few more rounds, and joins her. Somewhere, May has just felt a disturbance in the Force. In the safety of the tables, Fitz says he is running low and Simmons doesn’t know what they were thinking.
Somewhere else, Elena leaves a door, holding her arms to her chest. She rounds a corner. There’s a door to the stair case. It opens, and the Inferior comes out. They lock eyes and he says, “There you are” as he pulls out his knives.
Act 5 #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree #ProtectMack
Fitz is doing the pop-your head-over-the-table-and fire-thing. Simmons asks that Fitz tell her that he still believes that time can’t be changed. Fitz yells, “You want to debate that now? Isn’t *fires, takes cover* that why we’re here?”
S: No, Fitz, just tell me it’s against the law of physics. I need that right now.
F: The perception of time is an illusion.
S: Last mag. *hands it to him*
F: [Machine gun fire] *loads gun* According to Hermann Minkowski, space-tine—
S: No, you know, I was wrong. It’s not helping.
The barrage of machine-gun fire intensifies and the two lean forward, hearing the tables be hit with bullets that ricochet.
Elsewhere, it’s Colombia V Russia in the Cyborg/Robot title match. They fight. Anton loses a knife but knocks Elena in the head pretty hard. She’s knocked back. Anton tells her that he heard what happened to her. “Now you are also part machine.” “Not the part that matters.” They fight some more.
At one point, he tells Elena that he no longer feels pain, unlike her, and that he has died dozens of times. “But you? No second chances.”
More fighting and Elena notices a cool detail after getting a hold of his knives-he guards his face. She then slices his chest, sees that he is part machine, speaks Spanish, grabs him, and takes them both outside the same window that Robbie and James went through in “Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire”.
We don’t really see them land before it cuts to the scientists. They hold hands, expecting to die as the Minions stalk toward them, surrounding them, only for the Minions to freeze and collapse. If Fitz and Simmons didn’t believe in God, they might now.
Back to Elena: She pries her arms off the Russian, grunting and grimacing in pain. Standing up, she sees that ‘blood’ has stained the ground under his head. Elena breathes heavily and asks, “Who’s Superior now?” The Inferior’s body flinches and shakes, as do the other Minions’. “He was controlling them.” Elena hears and then sees a Chinook flying overhead.
*Back at the Lighthouse, Mack takes the mask off Deke who is stoned out his mind. He admits that he likes Daisy, wants to kiss and make out with her, knows that she hates his guts, and only wants to kiss her with her consent. Mack and Piper watch awkwardly. Deke asks Mack if they do any handshakes and asks if he should save his head. Piper sees nothing with that plan. Piper at one point says that Daisy is not her type. Mack asks Piper if more morphine would hurt him and pumps his full as Deke says his brain is falling. * This was all from my memory as I have work soon and if anything could be spared the details, it’s this scene.
Daisy joins them as Deke goes sleepy. She tells them that something weird jus happened. Piper looks at Mack and Mack tells her he wouldn’t and shakes his head and buries his head. Daisy looks at them weird and asks if they remember the signal transceivers from the mechs. Mach says, “Yeah” and Daisy tells them they got a ping and are tracing it.
Back in England, Fitz looks over a Minion. It’s just offline. Simmons guesses it must have been something YoYo did. Fitz says that whatever It is, they’re safe…for now. Simmons still can’t believe they survived. Fitz says, “Me neither” and sighs. Simmons says. “But you were so certain we’d be fine. ‘Time is fixed’ and all that.”
Fitz stands up. “I started having my doubts. Maybe your hopeful nature’s rubbing off on me.”
Simmons smiles and they look at each other. But they are interrupted by Ruby who rudely lodges a chakram in the table between them as Junior Varsity Hydra walks in. “Aww, how cute. Well, looks like you two have made quit the mess.”
Alex enters behind Ruby, holding the gun up high with a stiff arm. Alex comes around Ruby and tells her that it isn’t the first time. These two were there when SHIELD tortured him. Fitz and Simmons both have a look on their face like, Oh, yeah Coulson did that didn’t he?
Alex looks the chamber over and sees that it’s missing a piece and that that piece has been smashed. He tells Ruby they destroyed a component for the infuser. “It’s useless. We can’t transfer the Gravitonium until it’s repaired.” Alex holds his gun up again and Ruby dislodges her chakram from the table and then holds it to Simmons’ throat. She tells her, “Fix it, or bleed out.” Simmons takes it as smoothly as Coulson when he was in that situation.
Fitz takes a step forward, but Alex holds his gun on him higher. Simmons tells Fitz that they “can’t let it happen again.” Fitz replies that they don’t have a choice and never did. Ruby smiles maniacally as Fitz has tears in his eyes.
Tag Scene
Noooo, it’s painful to type this. Talbot is looking at his own profile on a tablet. (One that’s in a heavy duty case for once). Daisy knocks on his door as he sits on his desk and Daisy enters. They exchange, “Hey’s”. Daisy thought Talbot would like to know they have a lead on Hale. Talbot really helped.
Talbot, who looks down at his clasped fingers holding onto the tablet, chuckles and says he wouldn’t go that far. Daisy starts beating the phone in her hand against her forearm and tells him that she also thought about what Talbot said about his son. If she had known that her dad had cared when she was growing up, it would have made a big difference.
Talbot blinks and nods slightly. Daisy explains that it took some doing but this phone was set to bounce through a dozen foreign relays. They only have one shot, and even then, just a few minutes. Talbot sighs, understanding what’s going on. Daisy continues, handing it to him, “But you can call them without Hale tracing us.”
Talbot takes it and says thank you. He sets the tablet down and dials.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Carla: Hello?
T: Hi, honey. It’s Glenn.
C: Oh, Glenn. I was so worried.
T: I know. I’m—I’m so sorry.
C: Once the Air Force took you, I-I got a few progress reports, but then you never called. I thought I’d never see you again.
T: *looks at Daisy* Honey, I’m sorry. I only have a few minutes. I just want you to tell George that his dad’s okay and father loves him very much. *Daisy smiles* And I’m getting better. I’m getting stronger and I’m…(sniffles) I’m not yelling…as much.
C: Glenn…
T: Yeah?
C: The doctor’s said you should take a deep breath. Calm your mind. You know what is best. *we see her reading a script as Lee watches* What is best is you comply. Remember, your compliance will be rewarded. *Lee nods to Carla* Glenn, are you ready to comply?
T: I’m happy to.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Daisy, seriously go check on Coulson. Make sure he’s hasn’t gone catatonic.
