Act 1 #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree
In his room at the HYDRA Hilton, Coulson is sitting on the bare floor talking to the security camera in his room. “General Hale. I know you’re bummed the whole team-up thing isn’t gonna happen. But it still seems kind of petty, taking away my cot…my chair…and my Cap’n Crunch. That last one really hurt. And you’re gonna destroy the Earth, so…”
The scene fades into security footage that Hale is showing Creel. “I told you we’d get Coulson. And he’ll pay for General Talbot after he’s turned over his Inhumans. But for now…” Hale wants Creel to touch the Gravitonium. She knows Creel enjoys the feel of a new material and Creel has been looking forward to this one.
Creel wants to to know what Gale wants him to do with the Gravitonium and Hale answers that Whitehall, Strucker, even Talbot wanted his compliance. She’s offering him transformation. Creel asks, “Into what?” and Hale answers, “Into a hero” and Ruby looks back at Creel with a mean look.
Creel goes into the lab so he can show them what he can do. Once he’s gone, mom and daughter have a chat:
R: Why hand him this? Talbot already gave up the location of the chamber.
H: Yes, and we’re waiting for Strucker to show us how to put it together. His father never made it easy for someone to steal his work.
R: But Creel—
H: Creel will give us answers. No one understood Gravitonium except for Ian Quinn, and he’s been in hiding for years.
R: But if Creel touches it—
H: Yes, he’ll help us understand what we’re dealing with here.
R: Before you give it to me.
H; I don’t want to infuse your cells with something we know nothing about.
R: So then why not talk to Coulson about it? He has experience with it. And I think after two days in isolation, maybe an olive branch—
H; We’ve done the olive branch. We stick the screws to him now. A week without sleep and food, we’ll see what he has to say. (Oh, sure show, slowly kill Coulson and also torture him. Makes sense.)
Hale pushes a button and calls for them to begin. The lid to the Gravitonium is taken off and Creel goes to touch it. sugar honey ice and tea goes wrong. It grabs onto him and doesn’t let go. Creel shouts, “Get me out” and then feels Dr. Hall in his head. We see a shot of Hall falling into it (after Coulson shot the floor so he’d fall in to act like a catalyst in The Asset.) Creel starts to hang upside down in the air as his gravity is reversed. Two RoboMinions pull Creel out.
Hale asks over the intercom, “What happened? What did you feel?” and Creel answers, “It’s alive.”
Cue Title Card #CoulsonLives
At the Lighthouse, Yoyo is punching a punching bag in a way that would put Steve Rogers to shame. Mack comes in in time to watch her hit it so hard it swings far. Mack is impressed and says Simmons is right, she had said that YoYo might become stronger than before. YoYo is murdering that heavy bag.
YoYo had stopped it from swinging and takes off her shirt. She says it feels good to bot be laying on a bed for once and then throws it to Mack and then goes back to punching. Mack does want her to push too hard, they just put ‘those things’ on her. YoYo says she fine. She’s just getting used to them (she’s is stretching).
She and Mack join each other on the side and Mack says, “Look, I know you like doing things fast, but you don’ know your strength yet. So maybe a little caution couldn’t hurt for a change.” YoYo sighs. She knows this speech by heart.
Mack replies, “Well, you’re the one talking about how you’re indestructible and saying you can’t die. How was I supposed to take that?”
YoYo answers it was the pain meds talking. Mack seems satisfied by that answer and says she can at least hydrate and hands, Pacquiao, a water bottle. Later on, Mack can run a diagnostic on those arms. YoYo gives him a look after putting on a jacket. He’s not babying her, he’s a mechanic. A well-oiled machine needs oil. Mack walks away, and YoYo crushes the water bottle.
Back in his cell (Fitz and Coulson have a lot in common right now) Fitz doesn’t see it. None of Deke looks like him.
Deke doesn’t know what to tell Grandpappy, he guesses Fitz’s daughter found a real man.
Fitz shakes his head. “Of all people *slams hands on his sides* *goes to sit down* Why couldn’t it be Flint? I liked Flint.”
Deke says that’s a lovely sentiment. Almost as loving as when Fitz had a robot point a gun to Deke’s head. Fitz says he didn’t want to hurt anybody. Deke says it’s fine, it was the first move that Fitz did that made Deke actually respect Fitz a little bit. Hearing this, Fitz looks up and at Deke like that is not what he wanted to hear. Deke shrugs his shoulders and says it was his kind of move. At this place 80 years from now, Deke survived on moves like that. It was killed or be killed.
Deke then says that Johnson is still mad at him about the whole “selling her into slavery” thing, but you have to play the long game (which is what Deke had told Daisy in 5x03) or else the whole world will be a vacancy. Fitz responds, “Maybe” and Deke asks if Fitz still doesn’t see the resemblance.
Fitz reacts by squinting his eyes and putting his hand on his forehead. Deke says quality time was fun but he’s late. He doesn’t know if Fitz has noticed but ever since Daisy’s been in charge, she’s been kind of a hard ass.
Fitz looks at him, gestures, and says he’s noticed.
Walking down a corridor, Deke is met up with Simmons who wants to pick his brain for a minute. She was hoping Deke could her more about their future. Deke says she saw it, it sucked but Simmons is asking about her and Fitz’s future. Does Deke recall any evidence of major injury, or noticeable scarring perhaps? Deke doesn’t remember them at all and didn’t even know their real names. SHIELD changed their names when they were getting hunted down. Deke knew them as Nana and Bobo. But she and Fitz made it to the Lighthouse.
Simmons says that’s good to hear and, as they stop walking, Deke says his mom talked about them a lot, but she never mentioned any health stuff. Simmons is happy to hear that Deke is pretty sure they were “tiptop”.
Deke smiles lightly. Simmons reminds him of ‘her’. He offers to tell her stories but Simmons declines, thinking it’s best to not know too much. It’s enough to know that they live long enough to create her. Deke says they certainly will, as long as they, *realizes what he’s saying* you know…
Simmons realizes what he was saying too and looks away and then back. Deke tries to awkwardly get away from that sentence, “Uh, but anyway, I-I don’t know how much longer I’m gone make it if I don’t get a move on, because…*whispers somewhat* but ever since she’s been in charge, Daisy has really just become a hard-ass.”
Simmons noticed.
Somewhere else, May and Daisy are walking in a corridor to the Zephyr. May wants to know if Daisy is “sure about this”. Daisy understands the risk of taking Robin out of hiding but Robin is their best shot at finding Coulson. Daisy has to talk to her. May, in the background, rolls her eyes and her head as Daisy continues to say that she gets that May is afraid to see Robin again but she’s the most powerful tool that they have.
May replies that she is just a kid after they board the Zephyr, followed by Deke who apologizes for being late, he was just getting his gear together. He’s mission ready. Daisy nods like, “Okay?” and Deke says he’ll just go ahead to the command center. He leaves.
May looks to Daisy and asks, “Was he late?” Daisy has no idea. She then sees Simmons and asks, “What’s up?” Simmons was hoping to have another word with Daisy about Fitz. Daisy says they can’t have that conversation again.
Simmons argues that Robin may have answers, or she may not, whereas Fitz has a concrete lead on a Hydra weapon. If they get to that first, they get to Hale. “That could lead to Coulson and…”
Simmons is cut off by Daisy who says, “Fitz is sick. You should be worried about that.” May reacts but doesn’t say anything. Daisy continues, “Look, you can compile his intel, and we will review it when we get back but right now Zephyr One is leaving.”
Simmons forces a smile and turns to leave but before she does, Daisy tells her that while Daisy is gone, Mack is in charge, and he’s under strict orders that Fitz stays locked up. “Understood?’
Simmons says, “I understand what you’re saying.”
After she leaves, May faces Daisy and tells her Daisy might want to dial it back. Daisy thinks Simmons is wrong. May says Daisy made that perfectly clear but she’s leading them now and it’s new to everyone, not just Daisy. Daisy is just leading them to Coulson, then he can have his job back (That is REALLY Optimistic, Daisy. TOO Optimistic).
Fitz is sitting at the table in his cell when Simmons comes to talk to him and brings Elena. Simmons starts talking before she and Elena even get to the window. Daisy won’t listen, so Simmons thinks it’s time they try a new approach.
Elena: To what? Why’d you drag me here?
Simmons: Because I’ve realized we have to think differently. Fitz started to, and he’s paying for it. But you can’t deny it worked. And you. Mack said you believe you can’t die.
Elena: I know it sounds crazy, Jemma—
S: I don’t think it’s crazy. I believe it’s true.
E: I’m glad someone understands.
S: I don’t just mean you.
Elena looks to Fitz and back at Simmons.
E: You guys didn’t see yourselves in the future.
S: No. Deke is our proof. His mother…was our daughter.
Elena and Fitz exchange looks.
E: Deke…
S: Is our Grandson.
E: Wow. I’m sorry.
F: Thank you.
S: No, no, it’s really quite sweet.
E: Well, it makes as much sense as anything else. So, we’re the #InvincibleThree, huh? Now what?
S: Daisy’s taking a long shot to find where Hale is keeping Coulson, but we something concrete that can get us one step ahead of her.
E: That sounds good.
F: (standing at the window now) Hale may be after a weapon powered by Gravitonium, probably in a location that Malick turned over to SHIELD.
E: That sounds bad. I’m in. So, we go to these places and knock down doors?
Simmons smiles.
E: *looks at arms* I can knock down doors now.
F: I can’t go anywhere. *sits on table, hands in lap*
S: Fitz…I know you feel like you’re battling something inside you, but I trust you. Do you trust me?
F: Yeah. Why? *walks to window*
S: Because I’m going to get you out. And we’re going to go after this thing. *starts to walk away*
E: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait. *Simmons turns around smiling* We have a problem. Mack—he’s the only one that can open Fitz’s cell now. He won’t want to, Jemma. He’ll stop us.
S: No. He’ll try.
Act 2 #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree
Creel is sitting on his bed. He hears Dr. Hall saying, “It’s far too powerful for you, for him” as he holds his head in his hands. He is snapped out of it by Hale, who has ditched her uniform and I forgot to say that earlier. “How are you feeling?” Creel answers that it won’t leave his head. Whatever is on there, he can’t control it.
Hale says she thinks this is more about what’s happening inside of him. Creel asks what she is talking about. Hale explains that she and him are a creation of the old Hydra, which was destroyed, and when the thing we identify with the most falls apart, we lose our footing. We don’t know what our next step is.
Creel stands up and faces Hale. He didn’t choose to be created by them. Hale says, “But you get to choose now. Creel says that’s not what this feels like. That’s what Hale wants. Hale says that they are going to conduct another test soon. Whether he takes that next step is up to him.
AT THE RETREAT (Not seen since season 2, also episode 16 Afterlife when Coulson and Hunter were on the run from Real SHIELD), a Quinjet has landed so Daisy and Davis can pick up Robin and Polly. Davis walks in carrying their stuff. He tells them to watch their heads and try to get comfortable. They’ll take off in a few minutes.
Daisy joins them as Davis goes to the cockpit. Polly tells Daisy it’s not to see that Mr. Fitz got them all back. Daisy says it’s good to see them too. She’s sorry to take them out of hiding and wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t really important.
Daisy looks down at Robin and tells her “Hi”. Robin doesn’t move or respond, and Polly goes to put her into a seat. Polly looks at Daisy who is visibly concerned and they walk away a few feet to talk. Robin hasn’t been doing well for a couple of weeks. She isn’t speaking to Polly or drawing pictures. Polly doesn’t know what Robin is seeing but whatever it is, it’s overwhelming her. Daisy understands that feeling. Maybe she can figure out what’s on her mind.
In his room, Alex is frantically reading books and notebooks and writing stuff down at a desk. One of the drawings he works on is of the chamber. He is joined by Ruby. He holds a notebook up to hand to her and says to get them translated. He doesn’t speak German. He asks if something is wrong when he sees Ruby’s body language. Ruby doesn’t answer but takes them and asks if they have the answers or are they just musings from a Hydra has-been?
Alex says that his father kept everything separate. There’s no single journal that explains how the chamber works. He lists off a list of chamber related stuff and Ruby realizes that they’re still missing something.
Alex says he is working as fast he can to re-create these to understand it all. Ruby drops the stuff and crosses her arms. They may be running out of time. Her mother just gave Creel the Gravitonium, a new toy for him to play with.
Long story short: Ruby senses that Hale is up to something because she tried to join forces with SHIELD, with Daisy Johnson. Ruby has worked herself to the bone for this and she is so close. Alex says he will get her there. He just needs to think.
Cut to Z1, over comms, Davis tells May that they are en route to Z1 five minutes out and they do have the cargo, safe and secure. We then see Davis and behind him, Daisy and Robin. Daisy tells Robin, among other things, that she saw something frightening and it’s okay if Robin is feeling scared. Daisy was scared of her powers too. She couldn’t control it or escape it, but it got better, and will get better for Robin, Daisy promises. Robin doesn’t look at Daisy and only looks down at her bird. Daisy looks back at Polly who is watching.
Daisy then tells Robin that she wouldn’t ask her to think about anything she doesn’t want to, but her friend, Phillip J. Coulson (that stupid ‘J’ was never referenced until randomly last season) is the one who helped Daisy get better and he’s lost. And Daisy needs to find him.
Daisy gets close to Robin’s side to look at her, “Robin, can you help me find him? Please?” Daisy goes to grab the bird, but Robin pulls it away. Daisy sighs and looks back at Polly again.
Back at the Lighthouse, Mack has finished running a diagnostic on Elena’s arms. He says, “if the arm fits” and Elena calls him on making arm jokes when she thought those were off-limits. Mack says it will be his first and last and that he’s glad that her arms are in good shape. Elena says she would like to do more than work out and et check-ups. She wants Mack to let Fitz out of his cell.
Mack asks, “Why?” and Elena answers, ‘Because he knows about a weapon that Gen. Hale wants that uses gravity and they need to get it first. Mack says she knows what Fitz did and to take it up with Coulson when they get him back (oh, the optimism about that!) Elena asks, “and what if we can’t wait for that, Mack? Maybe it’s time for others to step up. I saw myself alive in the future. I want to use that to….”
Mack gruffly interrupts. “Damn it, Elena! That doesn’t make you bulletproof. I thought you let go of that.” Elena responds that there are things she can’t let go of—things I learned in the future about this team, about Coulson, about you.” Mack doesn’t want to hear about the future. All he knows is that right here, right now, Elena is in front of him. Safe.
Elena responds that Mack can’t protect her forever and Mack asks if she ever stopped to think she is alive in the future because he did?
Mack and Elena share a look and then Mack looks away mumbling, “No” and then he goes to a laptop and declares that Fitz stays where he is. He looks at Elena once more and adds, “And so do you.”
Hearing that, Elena walks out of the room NOT HAPPY.
Back at the Hydra Hilton, Creel is laying in bed when he sees/hears Hall say, “I see the future, Mr. Coulson.” Creel sits up, goes to the door and transforms himself into the material of the door, reaches into the lock and breaks it, taking care of the RoboMinion on his way out.
He then goes and breaks into Coulson’s room. Coulson is where we left him sitting on the floor (and I don’t think has moved much, if at all). Creel walks into the room but stops to glare at Coulson.
Coulson says, “You can tell the General there’s nothing you can do to make me join her evil league of evil.”
Creel responds that he is not her messenger boy. He then goes and pulls Coulson off the ground and half pushes/half carries him to the other wall and pins him. Coulson resists as much as possible and manages to hold Creel’s right hand with his robot-hand. Unfortunately for him, Creel also has a left hand and goes about choking him. At that point, Coulson releases his hand and focuses on trying to not be choked.
Creel tells Coulson the Gravitonium hates Coulson. It wants him dead.
Coulson retorts that Carl does not look so good. “If you’re messing with that stuff, believe me, you don’t want to be the next guinea pig in Hale’s experiment.”
Creel has another flash? Of Hall saying that SHIELD is just as guilty of the same thing, experimentation without thought of consequence. Creel says it at the same time as Hall while tightening his grip as Coulson continues to struggle.
Coulson shouts that SHIELD may not be perfect, but they’d never do what Hale did to Talbot. “I thought he was your friend.”
Creel growls, “What do you mean?” and Coulson realizes that Creel doesn’t know. “Talbot is Hale’s prisoner, too. She broke him.”
Creel: No. She said she was getting him care no one else could. *softly* Helping him heal.
Coulson: *raspier voice* That’s a touching story.
Creel tightens his grip. “And I should believe you instead?”
Coulson: You don’t have to believe me because every few minutes, a mech guard comes to check on that door, and it’s been a few minutes. *they hear sounds in the corridor* You have a choice to make, Carl.
Carl thinks about it for a few seconds and lets go of Coulson, gives him a look, and then goes and does the door thing and takes out the RoboMinion. His head flies off outside the door. Coulson says, “that’s a choice” and Creel comes back in saying, “Let’s see if your story check out. If it doesn’t, I’ll do the same to you” before he grabs Coulson’s shoulder and jacket and they walk out.
Act 3 #CoulsonLives
On the Zephyr, Polly watches through a window as Robin stares off into space and doesn’t color. Daisy joins her. Robin still won’t talk with Robin and Polly says that she thought she’d have until Robin was at least 13 before Robin completely tuned her out. Polly apologizes for the fact that she and Robin weren’t able to help, Daisy asks her not to apologize as this cannot be easy for Polly. Polly laments that Robin can see the future and Polly doesn’t even have the power to know what she is feeling. As she says this, Robin leaves the conference room and makes her wat towards the front of the plane.
Polly says that at least when Robin drew she had a window into Robin’s world. Daisy asks what her last drawing was. Polly has it and shows it to her. It’s the same drawing as the one that depicted her death. Daisy says, “I’m not sure” when Polly asks if she knows what it is.
After that, Robin has made her way to the cockpit and says, “Mom” when she sees May. May gets up and walks down to the command center, giving Polly and Daisy a look, she stops before she reaches Robin. Robin says, “Mommy” and hugs May.
At first, May doesn’t know what to do but Robin says “I missed you” and May starts to tear up. Polly sees this and reacts, and Daisy looks at her like, I’m so sorry you have to see this.
Robin breaks the hug and tells May that she told her that Flint would get her back. May bends down to her level and says, “You did. You were right.”
Back at the Hydra Hilton, Creel and Coulson round a corner. Creel still has Coulson in his grasp as he call this place a labyrinth and asks if this is the right place. Creel explains that this the only wing that Hale made off-limits and there might be a reason for that. They continue walking and Coulson asks if Creel can open these doors. Creel can, he just needs to know which one Talbot is in and if what Coulson says is true…
They hear Talbot saying, “Straighten up and fly right, Airman! You look like a damn hobo!” through the walls and stop in their tracks. Coulson is pretty sure that’s their man.
Cut to a close-up of Talbot as he says, “You are in violation – major violation of dress code 36-2903. (Coulson and Creel enter the room) Noncompliance. Get it together.”
Coulson and Creel look at Talbot as he holds up a mirror, trimming his beard. Creel says, “General?” and Talbot yells at him for sneaking up on a man like that saying, “that’s not right” and repeats it.
Talbot turns around and sees Carl. Coulson cocks his head and Creel looks at Coulson like it’s murder time. Talbot asks Carl what he is doing here and then asks Coulson. Coulson gestures to Creel (who still looks at Coulson like it’s murder time) and says Creel can explain it to him later as he walks to Talbot.
He goes to Talbot and puts his hand on his shoulder and asks if Talbot is okay to travel. Talbot says no, he is not in the best shape. Creel says (quietly), “If your robot hadn’t shot him in the head.”
Coulson replies (louder), “If you still want to buy Hale’s story about that, too, fine. But can we agree this man needs to get out of here?”
Creel softens and agrees when Talbot tells him to listen to him, he’s an ally. Talbot would like to get back and see his wife and child. Coulson gruffly asks, “We good?” and Creel says, “Let’s get going.”
Coulson goes and takes the scissors out of Talbot’s hand, telling him his beard looks perfect and let’s go and then helps Talbot stand up with an arm on his bicep. Talbot breaks free, telling him to quit being so handsy.
Coulson gestures and speaks softly saying, “Glenn, I know we’re under a bit of strain here, but I’m gonna need you to use your inside voice.”
Talbot replies (loudly), “This is my inside voice!” and Coulson responds, “Okay. Then you softer inside voice” as he takes Talbot’s hand.
Next, we head to the Lighthouse to start Michal’s absolute most favoritest scene (not a word, I know, but I don’t care because I have to describe a Coulson-death scene in a little bit).
Mack is following Elena down a corridor and asks her where she is taking him. He doesn’t like surprises. Elena says if she can’t convince him, someone else will. Mack stops and sighs.
Cut to Elena pushing a cart with hydrochloric acid, hydraulic fluid, a large beaker, and 4 small beakers. Mack finally rounds the corner and asks, “what the hell is this?”
Jemma responds, “An experiment” as she takes off her gloves. She continues, “A test of an hypothesis. If that hypothesis is true, you’ll see that you should let Fitz out.”
Fitz looks at Jemma slack jawed as Mack says he already gave her his answer on that. Jemma explains that they want Mack to reconsider with all the facts, so she is going to PROVE THAT SHE CAN’T BE KILLED. (Must be nice to not be able to BE KILLED).
Mack says, “What, you, too, Simmons? Do you know how all this sounds?” Simmons is smiling widely this whole time and answers, “Like science,”. Mack corrects her, it sounds like Jemma is detached from reality. Mack then looks at Fitz who says don’t look at him, he doesn’t know what Jemma’s doing.
Jemma cheerfully says, “Well, what’s an experiment without skepticism?” and then goes onto explain the ‘experiment’: She’s going to drink from four beakers. One of them will have a mixture of hydrochloric acid and hydraulic fluid (phosphoric acid to be exact) and the others will be filled with water. One sip of the mixture will make you sick, that much will surely KILL YOU. As she explains this, Mack gives her the exact same look that he gave when Coulson was gonna go in the Memory Machine in season two.
Fitz hears this and asks, “What the hell, Jemma?” and gets as close to the glass as he can. Jemma wouldn’t be doing this unless the science was sound and since she can’t be killed she will happen to consume the three that just hold water.
Mack says, “this is insane” and Elena and Jemma switch places and Elena fills the beakers and shuffles them around. Elena says,“No looking” and Jemma says she is not looking. Mack asks Simmons if she is serious before Elena finishes.
You guys probably remember how Fitz and Mack say “don’t do it” and react as Simmons drinks two of the beakers that are water with Mack pulling out his gun on her, not to shoot her to keep her from dying but to wound her to stop this madness. Simmons says she doesn’t think he will and Mack begs her to stop.
She takes the drink and lo and behold she collapses on the floor, shaking and coughing.
Act 4 #CoulsonLives #CoulsonDies #CoulsonLivesAgain #InvincibleThree
Mack is on the floor calling Jemma’s name as she continues her bad girl shenanigans. Mack shouts to Fitz asking what he should do. Fitz, uselessly messing with the door, says she needs alkaloid phosphate to counteract the toxicity. Mack asks where he can find it and Fitz says he knows right where it so let him out. Elena begs Mack to let him out and so he does…
…. You know what happens. It’s a trick, Mack gets locked in the cell (same way that Coulson pushed Skye into Vault D but without the super speed), and Fitz is freed.
Realizing what happened himself, Fitz says a heads up would have been nice and starts to say she scared him but stops, exhales, and goes to hug her. “Compliments on the performance, Dame Judi Dench.” Fitz, rubbing his teary eye, says that’s the longest she ever kept a lie going. Jemma answers that it wasn’t all a lie. She pours out the last beaker and it eats the cart. She might have chosen that one, but she didn’t. Mack looks down realizing it wasn’t a bluff. “BECAUSE WE ARE INVINCIBLE!”
“And crazy…apparently” adds Fitz. Mack tells them to let him out of there and Elena goes to the window, laying Mack’s gun on the cart. She tells Mack she’s sorry. She knows that Mack doesn’t understand but she is doing this to keep him safe. Elena is right, Mack doesn’t understand.
If, for some reason, Elena doesn’t come back, it means they’ve broken the time loop. Mack turns his back on Elena. Fitz says they know his feelings on that, it can’t be broken. Jemma asks if that’s what he’d tell their daughter, that her world can’t be changed. Fitz replies maybe but he hasn’t met her yet and they start to bicker while Elena looks down as she still stands in front of the glass.
Elena turns back around and tells them they’ll argue on the way. Elena says that if Fitz really believes that, it means they’re in no danger and the gun that picks back up goes off, narrowly missing the married couple.
They both jump and gasp and Jemma instantly CHECKS HER STOMACH and immediately after checking himself, Fitz checks her.
Elena realizes what she did and repeats “Lo siento” (“I am sorry”, Thank you, Google Translate). Elena is just getting used to her fingers. Elena goes to pick up the gun off the floor, but Fitz picks it up with two fingers saying he’ll get that.
Jemma looks at him and says, “Let’s go.”
On Z1, Robin tells May that she is glad May is there as she colors a picture of Kasius. May is looking at the picture of Robin’s death and the says, “Me too”. May sits next to Robin and asks if that (her death) is why she had to stop drawing before. Robin shrugs her shoulders. May says they are going to try and make sure that future never happens. “And to do that we need to find,”
“Phillip J. Coulson. He can put all the pieces together.”
May: Yes. But he’s lost and…I’m lost without him.
R: Daisy, too. That’s why you need each other so much.
M: Yeah.
R: HE’S GONNA DIE (Funny story, this was the last thing I heard before the DirecTV recording I was watching online buffered and NEVER played again on Friday night. Boy, was it fun when I hadn’t see it happen yet!)
May hears this and looks heartbroken. “You can see that?” Robin nods her head. May sighs (and starts to tear up maybe?) and then brushes Robin’s hair off her face so Robin looks at her and tells her, “We can save him.
Robin gives her a look and goes back to coloring. May looks down at the rest of her drawings and picks one up and then looks at Robin. It’s a picture of two people, neither of whom look like Coulson or Talbot but who am I to judge?
In the command center, Deke is lamenting the fact that once again, his life depends on a crayon drawing of a crazy person which is great for him. Daisy shifts her weight and sighs. Deke asks if May is still with her and Daisy nods “yeah” with her hand on her forehead.
Daisy says she cannot imagine bouncing back and forth between the past and the future like that. It sounds terrible. Responds, “finally someone gets it” and goes on and on until Daisy tells him she was talking about Robin. She starts to tell Deke she’s sorry for what he’s going through (or for his pretzel brain) but May comes and holds up the picture. Robin has seen Coulson.
Daisy looks at it and gets the idea to scan the mountains in the background to see if she can find a geographical match to them. May says it won’t be easy but that might be where he is.
Speaking of Coulson, he, Talbot, and Creel round a corner and enter another corridor. Talbot is walking behind Coulson while holding onto Coulson’s shoulder. Creel whispers that he was brought in this way and Coulson asks, “From where? Any idea where this bunker is located?” Creel doesn’t know because he too was kept in the dark when he was brought in.
Creel stops and is hit with another ‘flash’ of the Gravitonium. He hears/sees Hall saying he is right where he is supposed to be. Talbot and Coulson watch and Coulson asks if he is okay. Talbot still has his hand on Coulson’s shoulder.
Creel asks if he can hear them arguing and the other two don’t know what he means and give each other looks. Coulson asks what he hears. Creel answers that it’s nothing so let’s keep moving.
Creel rounds a corner and Talbot says, HA! and chuckles. Coulson gives him a look and Talbot asks, “What’s wrong with him, anyway?” (Loudly). Coulson answers by shushing him and starting to walk. Talbot follows saying he’s not the only one with a cooked noodle.
Camera cuts to a RoboMinion standing watch outside a door. His HUD says, “Unauthorized Presence” as Talbot says, “Keep your hands off of me, what’s going on?”
Ruby takes food to Alex, but Alex says there’ll be time to eat once he’s reconstructed the chamber. An alarm goes off and Hale enters telling Ruby that Creel has broken out Talbot and Coulson. Ruby is to stop them while the RoboMinions secure Alex. Hale tells Ruby that they need Creel alive. Hale says it twice and Ruby says she heard her.
The #InvincibleThree board a Quinjet headed for the closest of the three locations hoping they don’t find company when they get there. That is where they will start. They can fly the QJ because Fitz designed the autopilot system. They take off and Jemma asks, “WHAT’S THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN?”
Back with the escaping prisoners, Coulson practically wills it to happen when he says, “They’ll be on us in seconds.” Creel holds the other two back and stands in front of them. Creel goes after both of the minion but Coulson fights one by himself and Talbot…shadow boxes. (And Coulson who usually punches lefty is punching righty).
Coulson punches his minion and it takes him, spins him around and delivers the final blow to the boss’s weak spot. Coulson falls on his back. The minion walks up to him but is gunned down by Talbot. “Fallen hero.Fallen hero.”
Talbot drops the gun and goes to Coulson. “He took a shot right to the ticker” he says as he checks for a pulse AND FINDS NONE. Talbot opens his shirt (that’s probably the start of fanfiction) and sees Coulson’s awesome tattoo.
Talbot: Oh, my God, Do something, son. Do something!
Perfect time for Creel to have an ‘episode’.. He puts his hands on his head and says, “They never agree on anything.” (Halls says, “You’re feeling it now) and Creel says they agree that Creel shouldn’t help him.
Talbot asks, “They? Who’s ‘they’?” (Never have a staring contest with Clark Gregg because it looks like he’d win every time). Talbot continues, “We got a man down. Come on, soldier! DO SOMETHING” and Creel, thinking quickly, busts a RoboMinion eye and uses it’s power to
Coulson wakes immediately, gasping and breathing heavily. Talbot leans back relieved and Coulson sits up a tin bit. Talbot points at Coulson, “You know, you die more than anybody I’ve ever met.”
Coulson asks who he has to thank, and thanks Creel before Carl helps him up. Coulson buttons up his shirt as he says it’s time to go. They leave a doorway and Talbot starts to go in the other way but Coulson, also a herding dog, grabs him and walks him in the right direction, locking arms with him.
That’s when Ruby appears coming towards them. Coulson tells Talbot that if he’s thinking of blonde jokes, now’s not the time, lets him go and starts running as Talbot says he’s got a bunch of ‘em.
Creel herds Talbot this time and they round a corner with Ruby giving the order to fire.
Act 5 #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree
May tells Polly that she wishes they had time to take them both back into hiding, but they’ll keep them safe “here.” Polly smiles and says she is glad that robin was able to help them. May is too, they think she may have given them a location.
Polly stops walking and asks if she can ask May something. May shifts on her feet. Polly doesn’t understand everything that’s happened here today, but Robin clearly has a connection with May. May, with her arms crossed, says she doesn’t know if she can explain it. She doesn’t fully understand it herself.
Polly says May doesn’t have to, Polly has seen the drawings, she knows she’s not in them. Polly starts to say, “If anything happens…” but is cut off by May who says that’s not gonna happen.
Robin calls for her Mommy to come sit next to her and Polly does as May watches.
Back with the escaping trio, Creel tells the other two that he doesn’t know how to get them out because “she” is blocking the only exit that he knows. Talbot guesses this is how it’s going to end, with them pinned like Butch and Sundance. Coulson sees a door and says maybe it’s a cliff they can jump off.
Coulson asks, and Carl opens the door. Coulson says, “Yeah” and Ruby comes, saying she has something for Creel to absorb. Creel will hold her off as Coulson and Talbot head through the door.
Ruby tells the Minions to kill those two but that one is hers.
Talbot puts on his breaks as Coulson opens the door. Talbot holds his hand up repeating “No” once he sees the 084. He’s not interested in going to outer space, he’s not a cosmonaut. Coulson heads straight for the 084, saying that he thinks that as long as they avoid the altitude dial, they should end up somewhere on Earth, as he messes with the dials. Coulson moves quickly and Talbot asks him if he knows that the Earth’s 70 percent water.
I’m not describing it. Ruby and Creel fight.
Coulson and Talbot hear the clash as Coulson says they need to try this. Talbot immediately raises his hands in surrender. Coulson reaches up and pulls his hands down and has his hold onto a lever. They pull the levers down and start to shake. Talbot says, “Oh, boy. Here we go” and Coulson reaches over with his left to make sure Talbot holds on.
Minions enter firing machine guns right as Sam hopes to leap home.
Back to Creel VS Ruby. Fight. Fight. Fight. Uses of the environment and props in the gym.
Ruby gets ready to deliver the final throw of a chakram when Hale enters, commanding her to stop. Ruby looks like she listened and then goes ahead and throws it. But Creel has wood in his hand and turns into it (reworded to not sound dirty).
Hale walks up to Ruby and asks who the Hell she thinks she is. She’s the Destroyer of Worlds. Hale smiles, and says, “Then go get them.”
Somewhere on practically the same fake-snowy set that was used for “Providence”, Coulson and Talbot are dropped off by the 084. Talbot asks, “We’re on Earth, right?”
Coulson says they can breathe so he thinks it’s good old Earth. They start shivering as much as you can on a set in CA (not saying that they’re acting is bad, the set is distracting me) and Talbot says, “Well, we’re in the middle of godforsaken nowhere.”
Coulson replies that they should get moving and hope hypothermia doesn’t set in and reaches for Talbot’s arm and they start to move. Talbot says, “Maybe next time, send us some place warm, huh? White sandy beaches and the palm trees.”
Coulson tells him that’s not really his thing anymore. As they walk off, we see the mountain.
Tag Scene #CoulsonLives #InvincibleThree
In a van 4 years ago, IAN FitzING QUINN tells RAINA FitzING RAINA that he’ll never know how she got through to Garrett and thanks her. Raina tells him that Garrett learned to trust her in the end and this is what she wanted. Ian asks why she cared what he wanted, (touches Gravitonium box), to give him that? Raina replies that that act cements a bond. Ian says yeah it does and she has his undying loyalty now. He never wanted that Hydra non-sense. He just wanted the Gravitonium.
Raina tells him he misunderstands, it wants him. She opens the box and it reaches out and grabs him, pulling him in. She closes the box and sits down, pleased with herself.
I heard that was a deleted scene but I don’t have time to pull out my Season 1 blu ray to see if that’s right.
