I'm watching IM1 right now and I just noticed two things I never realized before.
1. Coulson sits on the floor in the very back row at Tony's 'Let's all sit' Press Conference.
2. Coulson went to the Firefighter's Benefit even though everyone was expecting Tony to not show up.
Just stray observations.

Coulson himself perhaps. |

Coulson himself perhaps. In the tie-in comic book, Fury had to tell Coulson that Coulson couldn't go to the middle east to look for/rescue Tony because they didn't have jurisdiction. Also, Coulson had been assigned to investigate Stane before Tony was even captured. I forgot how the investigation related to SHIELD originally. |

I'll be spending next weekend with some family I like and trying to avoid any remotely controversial conversations with others that I spend the rest of the year avoiding
