5x03 “A Life Spent”
Act 1
The first thing we see after a wide-to zoom shot from space to the Lighthouse is a table full of fruit. Grapes, (grapefruit? Watermelon?) Oranges slices, lemon slices, and I think dragon fruit? I can’t name most of these.
Jemma, still deaf, is standing by the table still dressed as one of the Servitors. Kasius is looking at himself in a mirror as someone does his make-up. When the camera cuts to a different angle Kasius is saying “The print is considered quite fashionable in the Capitol.”
He turns around when Sinara enters with a male guest (Emissary according to IMDB). “Kasius, how kind of you to arrange such a warm welcome?”
Kasius replies, “Just an every day affair.” Then offers the guest a Martini and explains it is a terran drink. We don’t hear his response because it cuts to Jemma’s POV.
When it cuts away from her POV, the Emissary says, “I am here on behalf of the Lady Basha. She sends her regrets.” Neither Sinara nor Kasius are pleased to hear this.
Kasius: “Well perhaps if she knew how we prepared Earth’s best cuisine.”
Emissary: “She prefers dining on her own ship. She means no disrespect.”
Kasius: *Still unpleased* “Surely. None taken.”
Sinara looks like she’s deciding on the most fun way to murder the dude.
Emissary: “Of course Lady Basha looks forward to the ceremony. She has…high expectations.”
Kasius: “To be exceeded.”
The Emissary leaves as Kasius addresses Tye. “Tye, you now have the opportunity to give us god news abut the ceremony.”
Tye’s response is mute as it cuts back to Jemma’s POV. Whatever he said angers Kasius as Kasius begins to throw a Kylo Ren level temper tantrum, picks up a glass and throws it. Jemma flinches. He throws more stuff before Sinara comes and calms him down by putting her hands on his chest and (talks?) to him. They then both look right at Jemma.
Kasius: “Jemma, we have a problem, and for your sake I hope you can fix it.”
Cue Title Card
Grill is yelling that the Renewal lost him time and tokens and if the pace isn’t picked up he’ll be doing some “renewing” of his own. Behind him we see Coulson with his sleeves rolled up working with a metal can at a table. Virgil’s book is visible in his back pocket.
Coulson carries the big can as he says he may have been wrong to trust Grill. YoYo says that is an understatement. Mack points out it was this or get shot.
After putting down the can, Coulson crouches down and begins to read Virgil’s book. Mack yells at him that they’re watching. Coulson responds that he knows but he needs to know why the book is important enough for Virgil to have hid it.
YoYo yells that “he did it because this tin can place makes people crazy!” and gets her metric zapped by Zev who yells at her to work faster. Coulson stands up again when it happens.
Mack goes to YoYo as she begins to say, “I’ll show you fast you…” She stops when Coulson says “YoYo” in a tome that says, don’t.
Coulson decides to go back to work and tells Mack and YoYo to do the same, but Mack has other plans. He grabs a pipe off the table and heads towards the back room. The doorway is rigged however, and he ends up magnetized to the entry. Grill asks him if he really thought that was going to work. Mack says he thought he’d give it a shot.
Grill explains that he doesn’t tolerate skimmers, laggers, or agitators. He looks at Zev who pushes the zap button.
Coulson and YoYo watch in the backround as Mack is zapped and then is struck by Zev. Grill then tells Mack that, “As long as you me, I own you.” and Zev releases him.
At the Exchange, Daisy meets up with Deke asking him, “where are they? We were supposed to meet up at the Exchange, something is wrong.”
Deke: “Or they took my advice to evaporate into this place.”
Daisy: “They were looking for a way to find Simmons. I have to track them down.”
Deke: “So you said. Don’t you think you’re kind of deflecting from what I told you about *imitates explosion with hands* ?”
Daisy: “I’m not deflecting because I didn’t do it.”
Deke: “Yeah, that’s what deflecting is.”
Daisy: “How can I split the world apart? My powers are not that strong. I am not that strong.”
Deke: “Maybe not yet but you will be.”
Daisy: “And how do you know that?”
Deke: “Because planet Earth went from smooth to chunky and Quake is the one who did it.”
Daisy: “And you don’t think I’d remember that?”
Deke: “Well, actually not according to the multiverse theory.”
They stop walking. Deke mansplains the multiverse theory, saying in her universe she probable hasn’t done it yet. Daisy slaps him. “So what Universe dis that just happen in? Mine or yours?”
Before he replies, Deke sees a man cleaning blood off his stuff down the corridor. He goes to talk to him and comes back and then explains that there was a Renewal and three people are dead. He is quick to add that it had nothing to do with her friends and that they are probably hiding which is what Deke advised them to do.
Daisy wants to know where they would be hiding. Deke says he doesn’t know and that they’re her friends. Daisy then retorts that this is his home and he knows everyone and everything that’s in here. Deke thinks for a few seconds and then says one of the vacancies came from Grill’s Salvage which means there’d be and opening and Grill might take in strays. He’d start there. Daisy asks if he got all that from the shoe guy and Deke says the Shoe guy knows all.
Daisy: “I should have asked him the first place.” She then walks off.
As she goes, Deke quietly speaks to himself. “Don’t do anything dumb, please.”
Back with the three indentured servants, Mack and YoYo speak to each other in Spanish. YoYo admonishes Mack for taking risks for her. Mack exclaims that he didn’t do it for her, he wanted to get a look inside Grill’s office. Coulson joins them and Mack switches to English as they huddle into a group. Mack saw a scroll in the cabinet behind Grill’s desk.
Coulson states that it might get them into the Levels where they’re keeping Simmons. Mack tells them that there’s a gun too.
YoYo: “But humans aren’t allowed to have guns.”
Coulson: “Except for murder sports, apparently.”
Mack raises his voice a bit. “The point being, we need to tread lightly. Now, YoYo, if you can’t get in there maybe we can get that Scroll back.”
Coulson says, “nice work, Mack” and Mack says to YoYo, “You see? Not stupid. Recon.”
That gets Coulson’s gears running and he starts to walk towards the exit when Tess and May enter.
Coulson: “Trawler run. God. That’s good.”
May: “Yeah, ‘cause I barely survived the last one.”
They walk pass May, Coulson pockets the book.
Coulson: “Take me with you.”
Tess: *still walking* “What? No.”
Coulson: “Hey, *puts his hand on his chest* *quieter* take me with you.”
Coulson then heads back to the table and walks off screen.
Grill calls Tess. “You and your friend here did us a kindness, taking a life.”
Tess: “Yeah.” *looks at the ground*
Grill: “But you still owe me a double hall.”
Tess: “Do I? You never mentioned it. (pause) I’ll need a few crushers if you want me to pack a belly full on that thing.” We see Coulson look back again (he did earlier). “Got anyone expendable?”
Grill: *looks at Zev* “Take the agitator and his friend.” (Coulson looks back again) “No big loss if one of these jokers get caught in the nets.” Coulson and Mack look back again.
Tess: “If you so say so. C’mon you two.”
We see Simmons standing against a wall. Sinara passes her and stops for a moment to point a remote of some kind at her eyes. It flashes a blue light. Jemma blinks as Sinara continues walking, and Jemma can hear again. She follows Sinara into a room with a girl who is having contractions in her hands sitting on a bed with a guy standing behind her about three feet away. The girl is whimpering and shuddering as she breathes.
Abby: “Please…”
Tye: “No, you need to learn.”
Jemma: “What did you do to her?”
Tye: “She’s doing it to herself.” *Looks to Jemma* “It’s your problem now. Fix it.”
He leaves, followed by Sinara after Sinara glares at Simmons.
Simmons tries to calm the girl down before asking her name. Abby tells her and then Simmons asks how long she’s had seizures. Abby doesn’t answer because Simmons goes to put her hand on Abby’s and goes right through it. She asks how long Abby has been like that and Abby says, “Only since Terrigenesis.” Simmons is surprised to hear that she is Inhuman. Abby tells her if she isn’t ready for the ceremony she doesn’t know what will happen to her. Abby then has another seizure.
Act Two
Daisy is hiding behind a wall. She asks, “So you’re and indentured servant to the junkyard king?’ YoYo answers that yes, and everyone else is on a spacewalk, but she’s being watched and has no time to explain it all other than that the boss-man has the thing that she stole in his office. They make a plan that YoYo will steal it back and give it to Simmons, so Daisy can go save Simmons.
Zev tells YoYo that if she goes any slower, she’ll go in the crusher.
Grill tells Zev that he doesn’t trust his new employees and that he had always suspected Virgil of skimming and that someone has been stealing from him. He’s suspicious of YoYo, Coulson, and Mack because they showed up right after Virgil died so he thinks they killed him to take over his racket. He tells Zev to join them on the Trawler run because he wants proof and that’s why he let them go.
Tess opens a left door and finds a kid, Flint, sleeping behind the ladder to the Trawler. He tells him he has to clear out.
Right after he leaves, Coulson, Mack, and May around the corner. May asks if Coulson being caught and taken prisoner in less than 24 hours is a record. He says not even close. Coulson wants to focus on the positives.
Tess asks what’s going on and Mack says, “You find anything in there, Sherlock?” Coulson says that he thinks Virgil spent so much time in the Trawler because he was looking for something. He then asks about a specific part of Earth and points out that the number it is related to showed up over and over in Virgil’s notes. Tess says that she’s been there and that it’s just a chunk of dead rock. Coulson says Virgil may have hidden something there and says the answer to why they’re there maybe out there and they need to go to it.
Mack doesn’t want to where they can’t hear you scream but goes anyway. Tess is reluctant to go as well because she is on the hook for a double hall and doesn’t have time for a side mission. Coulson convinces her to go because it’s not a side mission, it’s the mission.
Zev appears and they all fall silent.
Zev: “See how you got quiet?” *goes to the ladder* “That’s why I’m coming on this run.”
Back with Jemma and Abby, Abby wonders why Jemma is asking about her experience. Jemma replies that she was just wondering about Abby’s specific experience. Abby says that when she went through the mist she was one of the lucky ones. Jemma says that she knows Terrigenesis can be traumatic and Abby says it helped that she thought of her family and how they would be rewarded after she was taken away from them.
Simmons wants to know if Tye is hurting Abby. Abby says no and that he is trying to help her to control her gift. Abby is worried about her parents because she hasn’t been able to control her gift yet and doesn’t know if she will by the time of the ceremony. Jemma guesses that the ceremony is where she gets to demonstrate her abilities and Abby confirms that before saying if she does, she’ll get to travel and be an ambassador and see the galaxy. She says it’s a dream. Jemma gives off a weak, fake, smile.
Simmons says she might be able to help but she needs to know what Abby can do. Abby can control her molecular density and make herself hard as lead or so light that she can go through walls. Abby says that she can’t control it and that everything tenses up and it hurts. The only thing that can stop it is Tye inhibiting with a “blocker” or a metal implant on her neck, in the area behind her ear. Abby says that it helps her, but Simmons has a look that says, those bastards.
Abby them wonders if she’s worthy and Jemma tries to ensure her that she is because mastering abilities takes time, but Abby explains that if she isn’t ready by the time of ceremony, Tye says her family will be punished. Abby doesn’t care what happens to her, she needs to do this for them. She starts to shake again so Jemma puts her hands on Abby’s and says she will help her.
On the Trawler, Coulson joins May in the cockpit. May asks if Mack is keeping Zev distracted. Coulson says yes and that he thinks Zev is enjoying giving Mack a hard time. He then says he thinks this will be their last shot. May changes course and Coulson admires the view of their future dystopian horror show.
May: “Dazzling.”
Coulson: “How’s the leg?”
May: “Not gonna lie.”
Coulson put his (fake) hand on May’s shoulder. May puts her own left hand on his.
May: “You think we’re going to find something out there? A way back?”
Coulson: “I don’t know. Maybe there is no way back.”
May is shocked to hear him say that. “That doesn’t sound like you.”
Coulson: *takes his hand off her shoulder* “Just managing expectations.”
May: “You’re being fatalistic.”
(See episode 4 of season 2 when Coulson told May to shoot him in the head in terms of him being fatalistic.)
Coulson: “Look, you know I’m big on destiny but maybe our destiny is here.” May does not like what she’s hearing. “In this time, helping these people.”
May says that she does want to help these people, but after that, she’s going home. She’s earned a night in her own bed after being the Framework thinking she was HYDRA.
Grill is eating some kind of soup when his tablet keeps flagging YoYo’s metric at random points in the workplace. He goes to zap her, but she is at the table working both times. The alert only appears for split seconds, so he goes to her and tells her that her metric is on the fritz.
Free of her metric, she does her YoYo thing, gets the tablet, hands it off to Daisy, and is back before Grill ever notices. Grill fixes it and tells her to go back to work.
On the Trawler, Coulson is reading the book when Tess enters the cockpit. She says that Zev is busy teaching Mack a lesson and hasn’t noticed they’re off course yet.
Seeing the full extent of the destruction of earth, Coulson says it’s a miracle anyone survived at al. Tess pulls out Virgil’s little earth and holds it up so from her perspective it looks like Earth is whole again. She explains that Virgil did that and said that’s how earth would look when it’s fixed and that he wouldn’t fly without it.
That sets off something in Coulson and he takes the top half off the little earth. Tess says it’s the lost knob and immediately goes into a panel and opens it.
There’s a radio set-up and Coulson gets a closer look with his right hand above the panel before saying, “Virgil was talking to someone.”
Zev comes into the cockpit and is quick to magnetize everyone to whatever metal they’re by. Tess is magnetized to the ladder. Zev informs that they’re busted.
Act Three
Zev says he is going to enjoy zapping Coulson. May asks him if he has everyone secured. She then purposely runs the Trawler into a space rock. Zev is launched into the wall by a move by Coulson and drops the remote. He and Coulson try to reach for it, after Coulson secured Virgil’s book, and then Tess swings around the ladder and kicks him. Zev is about to get the remote when he recovers but Mack comes in, steps on it, and punches Zev out.
Coulson says thank you and Mack said he had to because they were flailing around like hungry hungry hippos.
Coulson: “In my mind it looked cooler than that.”
Once the realization of what they’ve done dawns on Tess, she nearly has a panic attack because she knows the consequences of attacking a superior
Meanwhile, Jemma is doing her best Jiaying impression. She has Abby trying to pass through a glass picture. Abby rage fists the table and then quickly apologizes. Jemma says that she can control it, it’s mind over matter. Literal matter. Her body is like the infinite space between protons, neutrons, and electron or the space between the stars. This thought is enough to allow Abby to focus and control her power at will as she is able to do it for a short length of time.
The victory is short lived however as Kasius enters and Tye comes and calls for Abby to follow him. Before she is able to though, Kasius steps in front of her and tells her he is looking forward to her performance. Abby is not happy to hear this and right before she leaved, Jemma tells her she will do great.
Jemma goes to say something else to Kasius, but he says “Silence” and she is deaf again.
Kasius asks Sinara if she set Jemma up to fail or thought she would succeed. She doesn’t answer but Kasius says “You want to see me happy” and turns his attention back on Jemma. He then asks what Jemma has that made her succeed.
Sinara speaks! “Compassion.”
Somewhere else, Daisy is using the Kree tablet to navigate the corridors. She runs into Deke who wants to know what Daisy is doing with it.
Daisy: “So now you’re tailing me? Shot in the dark, you won’t get it.”
Deke: “Oh, ‘cause you’re too noble to understand?”
Daisy: “Where I come from, we protect each other.”
Deke: “You are storming the castle. Any plans on how you’re gonna do that alive?” Daisy is silent. “That’s what I thought.”
Daisy: “This is what I do. My friend’s life is on the line, so I’ll figure something out.”
Deke: “Oh, just all in, totally blind, huh? It’s a stupid way to play, even if you have a good hand. You should be playing the long game.”
Daisy: “The long game?”
Deke: “Yes, I can make it, so you can walk down there with an invitation from the big man, but that takes serious time. It takes finesse.”
Daisy: “Or it takes the Scroll I have now. So, thank you for your endless advice, Deke.”
Deke: “You’re about to walk into a Buzzsaw.”
Daisy: “You’re just worried it’s gonna blow back on you.”
Deke: “This has nothing to do with me! If you’re gonna pick a fight with the blues, they are gonna take it out on all of us. Today’s Renewal was for three people. Tomorrow could be thirty. Death comes easy here.”
Daisy: “Which is why I need to get to Simmons now. So, if I were you, I’d get out of my way.”
She goes to walk away but he grabs her shoulder. “You have already destroyed the world once, I am not going to let you do it again.”
Daisy quakes him away and he falls backwards into a wall. He says, “So there she is Quake, the destroyer of worlds.”
Daisy goes to walk away but she turns back around and tells him to never call her that again.
We then see the Trawler opening it’s stomach and eating space rocks. It comes to a giant space rock that is completely flat on one side. Tess is continuing her panic attack as Coulson is scanning stations on the radio. Tess says they are screwed. She said it was a dead rock and they just risked their lives for nothing.
Mack enters and tells Tess that Zev is out cold and that he hopes he stays that way. Tess brings up the idea of them killing him. Coulson is quick to turn around and look at her as he listens. Tess wants to dump the load with Zev in the net and say Zev didn’t make it out on time. Mack says that is murder. Tess replies that a life spent is a life earned. It’s math and that’s how it works. Mack brings up how Tess shotgunned a guy to death and she defends her action by pointing out that she was saving May’s life.
At that moment Coulson manages to find a frequency with someone on the other end. They’re all shocked to hear a voice and wonder how they’re hearing anything. Mack says that it could be reflecting off the face of space rock 616. May realizes the signal is bouncing off it and originating from the surface of the Earth.
Back to Jemma’s story. Kasius, Sinara, Tye, and others are gathered to meet with their guests in Not-HIVE’s room. A servitor announces the arrival of Lady Basha.
Kasius: “Your excellency, I pray your journey was not too difficult.”
Lady Basha: “Kasius. Well you have carved out a life for yourself on this rock, haven’t you?”
Kasius: *smile fades* “Quite literally.” He then names Earthy sugar honey ice and tea I don’t feel like typing. “You fared well?”
LB: “We fared well considering the remote location.”
Kasius: “Well, we’ve been eagerly awaiting your arrival.”
Holding hands, Lady Basha and Kasius walk into a viewing area and sit down after Jemma asks what’s happening and gets a glare for an answer.
Tye says, “and now we’ll see the fruits of her labor” as he indicates his head toward Jemma.
Kasius: “Basha, my dear, I do hope you enjoy tonight’s exhibition.”
A door opens, and we see Abby. Simmons is immediately concerned.
Another door opens, and we see Basha’s fighter, who looks like a wrestler JD would talk about on the show and I can’t describe.
Simmons knows what’s going on. Simmons: “No, you…” She stops when Sinara blocks her and threatens with her balls. (I type giggling).
Lady Basha doesn’t believe Abby is a fighter. Kasius says that with Inhumans, “looks can be deceiving.” He then says she does him an honor for bringing her champion. Basha says he is hardly her champion but he has killed 13 opponents in 7 systems.
The fighter does not hold back in any way and is absolutely annihilating Abby. Lady Basha asks if Abby is the best he can offer. He looks to Jemma as he says, “let’s hope she can find her way. So many lives we prize depend upon her success.”
In the arena, Abby attempts weak punches to the fighter when she is held in the air against the wall and is thrown across the room.
Simmons is nearly having a panic attack just watching it.
In a neat transition, Abby starts beating on a door as another door somewhere else opens and reveals Daisy. She has found herself in a greenhouse type area with all kinds of trees and plants growing under UV light. She continues on her way after pretending to belong there for a quick second as a Kree passes.
Back in the arena, the fighter is still showing absolutely no mercy. He grabs her by the shoulder and drags her to where they are in front of the spectators. Basha is disappointed.
Abby, sobbing, looks up at Jemma who says quietly, “Just think of the stars.”
Lady Basha gives off her “finish them!” signal and the fighter begins to do so.
Abby gets up and makes herself so solid he breaks his arm. Then pulls a stunt that would make John Garrett proud: reaching inside him and pulling out a part of his body (a piece of spinal cord? a piece of his heart?)
On the Trawler, May, Coulson, Mack, and Tess are watching Zev go ballistic on a video feed. May can’t find the mute button. Coulson is on the mic trying to reach the voice on the other side.
Tess still hasn’t recovered from her panic attack and says, Zev is right. They are roach food.
The signal is lost as Zev says they will regret this. Mack tries to reassure her by saying they’ll figure this out. They always do.
Tess: “You don’t get it! The moment we lied about the mission, someone was gonna die. It’s him or us.”
Mack says they are not dumping the load and she says she has to while she still can. Tess asks if he is going to get in her way and if he is going to sacrifice his life for ‘that piece of trash’.
Mack states that “we’re not sacrificing anyone” because “As S.H.I.E.L.D., we live by a code, and we’re not bending to your twisted world view.” (Hey, Mack, Coulson is right behind you.)
An alarm goes off and May says they are losing fuel. Zev cut the fuel line. May asks Coulson if he has enough of that transmission recorded because they have t haul ass and pray they don’t hit a gravity storm. Tess throws their situation in Mack’s face and says she hopes it was worth it.
Kasius and Lady Basha are bashing Terrans as they drink their martinis. Lady Basha is admiring how well he has done with the Terran world and he says if he can’t find opportunity, he makes his own. Basha says he’d have to on a rock like this.
The rest of the scene cuts back and forth into Jemma’s deaf perspective. Jemma watches as Kasius sells Abby to Lady Basha for what looks like some kind of silver bars of currency. Abby seems excited as she leaves. Jemma tries to say, “No, Abby you can’t” but Sinara steps in front of her and threatens her with her balls again. (Still giggling).
Kasius: “Now Sinara, don’t be rash. Jemma proved her worth.”
Jemma turns around to face him. “You sold her.”
Kasius: “And if not for you, she wouldn’t have fetched such a high price.”
Act 4 (I think, it’s hard to keep track without commercials)
Daisy is still in the room with the fruit. The scroll opens a Kree-only lift and she enters it. But she is unfortunately joined by some Kree so she tries to do the thing where you hide on the ceiling and it’s not as easy as it looks. Her presence is noticed, and she absolutely decimates the Kree but breaks the Scroll in the process.
At Grill’s Salvage, May, Tess, Mack, and Coulson are magnetized to the side of the stairs as Grill reads them the riot act. He is angry that they committed mutiny after Zev caught them stealing.
Coulson says, “Mutiny? That’s a strong word” and gets zapped.
Grill then says they were picking up where Virgil left off and Zev uses the expression “squirreling away.”
Mack is quick to say, “Like you know what a squirrel is.:
Grills calls them agitators and says he will kill them good and slow. Coulson looks at him in contempt. Tess then says it was her and the other three had nothing to do with it. Coulson looks and Tess and says her name quietly.
Tess tells Grill that they never met Virgil so any beef he had with Virgil he has with her now. She brings up contraband.
YoYo who we had used her powers in the background tells Grill that Zev has a gun. YoYo says she knows because Zev had threatened her with it and probably threatened him to. She says to search him and if she’s lying she knows the consequences. Grill does and finds it.
Grill feels betrayed and shocks him so much he falls on his knees. Coulson and his fellow prisoners are quick to back up that story, saying they didn’t want to tell Grill because the Kree would come down on him. Grill says he will turn Zev in himself. He says it should be a lesson to the everyone that no one is above the law.
Somewhere else, Devon’s law goes into full effect. Daisy breaks through the ceiling of Kasius’s area and jumps down. She goes running down a few hallways before she comes across two forcefields that trap her. Some kind of as starts to be pumped in.
As she falls to the floor, Kasius walks in followed by Sinara and Deke. Kasius says that it is a rare occasion that he is surprised, and this is one of them. Deke says he told him he’d find her here, demonstrating her powers no less.
Deke describes her as a WMD in a tiny little package and says he trusts his payment will be more than fair.
Kasius calls Daisy, “Quake, Destroyer of Worlds” and asks how she is here.
Deke says the important thing is “She’s yours.”
Daisy: “I’ll kill you. I swear.”
Deke: “Sorry, sweetheart. I’m just playing the long game.”
The gas knocks out Daisy.
TAG SCENE
The scene is familiar. It’s the same one as the season four finale to begin, but this time we get to see the ‘work’ that Coulson alluded to.
He enters the ladder room where Tess, May, Mack, and YoYo are working on the radio.
Coulson: “Who needs sleep? I’ll get the next shift.”
YoYo: “Nice try. You slept less than all of us.”
Mack: “Yeah, we got to get back to Salvage anyway, so let’s hope this does the trick.”
Tess: “It’s got to be remnants. Old transmissions in the gravitational feedback loop.”
May: “I’m telling you, it’s from the surface.”
Tess: “I’m telling you that’s impossible. Nothing can survive on the surface.”
Man, on Radio: “Virgil, come in, do you read? We haven’t heard from you in three days. Please respond. Have you secured the delegation?”
Coulson: “He’s talking about us. We’re the delegation. Whoever that is knows we’re here, knows why we’re here.
YoYo: “So there’s someone out there.”
Coulson: “We need to find them. We need to find a way to get up there.”
Tess: “No, you’re not listening. Nothing can survive on the surface. That’s where they send people to die.”
We then see Zev on the Earth’s surface. He is literally Roach food.
