Please ignore the missing words, words I forgot to delete, and horrible grammar. I was still getting the hang of these and didn't edit as well as I wanted to before I stopped caring.
5x02 Rundown
Act 1
Still in the Trawler, May and Simmons deal with Earth being nearly destroyed at the same time that they deal with a barrage of asteroids hitting the ship. May asks Simmons for help in dealing with ship taking damage. Jemma’s solution is to take the key from the ignition and then restart it the craft, following the first rule of IT.
Back at the station, Coulson and Deke are waiting as May an Simmons get back. They all catch each other up on what they know.
Deke says he has no idea what Virgil’s plan for them had been and doesn’t anything about a portal, rock, or gateway.
They turn to Deke for help and Deke says the only thing they can do is wear a Metric and work hard. May is immediately against the idea of them wearing a Metric and Coulson doesn’t like the idea of being able to be tracked.
Tess comes to Deke asking about Virgil. Coulson tells her the bad news. Deke then tells her about Virgil hiring him to hide these people and that they are the ones from the past that Virgil had talked about.
Tess doesn’t believe it, so Coulson produces a quarter. Tess is more interested in his Metric scar-free forearm (on his not-fake hand). Deke says that dealing with the team is like herding rats. They do whatever they want. Tess wants him to stop the other team members from fighting the ‘Blues’. Deke wants far away from the team until Tess says she’ll double Virgil’s price.
Deke goes and finds Daisy, Mack, and YoYo and is NOT happy that they’ve killed not one, but two, Kree. He immediately says that they have to cover this up. It’s decided they’ll take the guards bodies upstairs and get them up there by putting them on top of the lift.
In a lift, Coulson asks Tess what happened to the earth. She explains that everyone has a different answer. Hers is only what they know. Earth was destroyed by a cataclysmic event. Tess then says that all they do is survive.
They arrive at the Exchange.
May: “Welcome to the end of the world.”
Hey, I did better at shortening this.
Act Two
Tess informs them that this station is called the Lighthouse and it started as an underground survival bunker and that this is called the Exchange. Tess also informs them that she grew up with stories of them but that the Kree killed the elders who spread the story and that Virgil was the only one to keep the story was alive and he got away with it because he was considered ‘a crackpot.’
Coulson wants to go see Virgil’s room to see if he can find any clues. May wants to know why the humans don’t fight back. Tess wants May to shut up before she is heard by everyone, but she answers that they rely on the ‘Blues’ to survive and that they each have a role to play.
Simmons wants to know the role of the woman in white across the room. Tess explains that sometimes the Kree take humans up to their levels to serve and that when they visit, they don’t talk much. Coulson remarks that with no guards here, the humans have the numbers. Tess says they do have the weapons. May says they (the team) have military training, though. Tess and Coulson then separate from Simmons and May.
Meanwhile, Deke doesn’t know what a skylight is.
At the same time, Coulson and Tess are walking to Virgil’s place. Tess grills Coulson about living on Earth. “How did you make that much air?” Coulson explains that it wasn’t made, it was just there and then says, “You’ve never been in a place without four walls, have you?”
Tess: “Do space walks count?”
After a conversation about natural disasters, Coulson explains that sharknadoes are not a thing. Coulson says she would’ve liked Earth.
They pass Grill who grills Tess about the Trawler being taken out earlier. She covers by saying they were training a new pilot. She informs him that Virgil died. Grill then talks to Coulson who seemed to be trying to wish himself invisible. “You the one filling his seat?” Coulson tells him no, he is just passing through. Grill then says she owes him double now.
For the dead Kree squad, Deke decrees that the system is now, “No more dead Kree!” He also learns Daisy’s name and says, “Like the flower?”
In Virgil’s room, Coulson notes all the stuff and how it’s similar to his office. He remarks about the ‘Singing in the rain’ poster and learns Tess has never seen rain. He then says, “We need to fix everything” before asking whether the earth will ever be livable again. It won’t.
Tess then shows him a ball that looks like Earth and explains that Virgil kept it in the Trawler. She and him were close, but Virgil could be a bit much sometimes. Coulson says he’s sure Virgil knew she cared.
Coulson finds a small journal stashed in a tiny garden-thing. He thinks it looks like flight log. Obviously, he didn’t want anyone to find it.
Back in the Exchange, May tells Simmons that Fitz would be going out of his mind from the lack of tech. Simmons reflects on, from where they are, he’s lived his life.
Commotion goes on as people begin to grab bowls quickly. Something is going on.
BlueLadyWithBalls AKA Sinara according to IMDb enters the room. One of the people in all white informs the humans that today Kasius “has saw fit to feed the most vulnerable amongst us.” A pipe is opened and a food resembling something you’d feed your pet comes out.
Soon, punches are thrown, and fights start. The guy in all white ends up stabbed.
Simmons, who gets out of May’s reach too fast, goes to help him. May gets something with a burning end and Simmons cauterizes the wound. A Kree comes and moves the guy against Jemma’s protests and then Jemma herself is taken away. A look at May tells her to stay there.
The guy who did the stabbey stabbey had made a break for it but had been killed with Sinara’s not-Magneto balls before that. Sinara looks pointedly at May as she walks away.
Now YoYo, Mack, Daisy, and Deke are at the Exchange where they meet up with May and Coulson. May and YoYo hug. May and Coulson tell them about Simmons.
Hearing the news, Deke automatically talks to Tess. Asking her how it happened. Tess says these people are not like them.
The team immediately begins to strategize, they can’t go to Earth and don’t know where Simmons is being kept. Daisy decides to follow Deke since she knows he’s running some kind of scam and can use that to blackmail him. May wants to steal one of the Kree tablets. Deke tells Tess to make the team blend in and walks away. They ask Tess if she really doesn’t know where Simmons is.
Simmons is in a nice clean area being escorted by Sinara. One of the people in white tells Jemma to take this opportunity to undress and clean herself. We see her to start to undress as Sinara watches.
She is then taken to Kasius who is not in any way in the same room where Malick kept HIVE. Not at all…
Anyway, the creep is pruning a grape bush. As she enters, he goes to a window. “Even Hala doesn’t have a view like this.” He then turns to her. “So, you’re the one who saved a life.”
The episode cuts to Daisy following Deke. She follows him to an apparent dead end, quakes a wall, takes the stairs that do not in any way usually lead to the Director’s office, and ends up in a speakeasy. She gets contact high and ends up in the Framework.
Act Three
Kasius talks about Simmons in the second person and says she must feel like she’s in a new world. Then comments on her appearance. Jemma tells him her name, that she is from Processing, and that she was only trying to save a life. Kasius asks how she picked up those curative skills while working in sewage all day. She says her mom taught her. He then grills her about interfering in his affairs. She says she only did what she thought he’d want.
Kasius says that the pressure must be building with the humans if the stabbing incident occurred over food. He tells Sinara to have the guards give the humans space saying, “A renewal will do them some good.” He then tells Simmons that life is a fragile thing.
Through creepy means he figures out she has no Metric and no scar from a Metric. She claims she removed it. He wonders if she is really from a place as tough as Processing.
Back at the Exchange, the team schemes to get rid of their baby sitter in order to get the tablet. May goes to distract Tess under the guise of changing her bandage (not cool, the babysitter had snacks to feed the kids!). With her out of the way, Coulson pulls the end of a pipe off (easily with his *left* hand) releasing steam, as some guards come, YoYo goes and steals the tablet saying Mack should see his Go face.
Coulson meets back up with them. Just then an announcement comes on and the humans are ordered to meet for Metric inspection. A Kree guard orders the others to remove the children. Coulson, Mack, and Elena are screwed without Metrics.
Down the hall, Coulson sees Grill. He coolly goes up to him and says he wants to make a trade.
Grill doesn’t want the tablet. He does want someone who can steal one. Coulson trades their services (as indentured servants it feels like) for three Metrics installed.
In the Framework, Daisy finds Deke in a bar. He’s yelling at the bartender for throwing away old newspapers and talking back. Daisy calls it the Framework and he says he’s never called it that before, but yeah, he is ‘pimping it out’.
Deke explains that he managed to find and repair a server containing the Framework and that he has used guesswork to upgrade it. He considers what he’s doing to be selling escape. Daisy says he is helping people trade one prison for another.
Tess and May see people standing for the inspection. Tess is upset because this is the beginning of a Renewal.
Then we see Mack get his Metric installed and that Coulson and YoYo already got there’s.
Tessa explains to May that a low earner’s Metric will turn red and they will owe a life; there own or someone else’s.
Back with Grill, Grill explains what’s going on. But in order to insure his life is safe, he pins the three agents to the wall with their Metric so they’ll get shot instead if someone comes for him.
Elena asks where an axe is when you need one.
Coulson: “Still too soon.”
Mack: “That’s not something to joke about.”
One of Grill’s employees (we saw him earlier, Grill had docked his pay for insubordination) comes in and points his gun at the agents asking where Grill is. They all answer by pointing in his direction. Grill says he left him three lives right there. He goes to shoot them as he says it’s twisted that he strung them up for him, but before he can pull the trigger, he gets a sudden attack of the Mays. Tess ends up killing the guy after May had pretty much beat him.
May says, “He didn’t have to die.”
Krees enter and everyone (but Grill I think) holds out their arms for the inspection. Coulson’s Metric is unformatted. Grill vouches for him, and the others, saying that they will be stationed with him for a long time.
Tess closes the eyes of the dead man before his body is drug away,
With Kasius, Simmons talks to the guy Simmons saved.
Kasius inspects him and is upset about the scar the wound will make but says, perhaps its fine since it can be covered up. However, the poor guy has a cut on his face and for that, Sinara kills him as Simmons begs Kasius not to.
Kasius takes something from his ear as Simmons freaks out and asks, “What’s wrong with you!?”
Kasius yells at her “Silence!” Then more quietly he says, “But you must learn silence.” He touches her ear, and something goes inside.
In a few seconds the sound fades out and the scene is silent. Simmons is deaf.
At the bar, Deke is telling Daisy that trying to go get Simmons is too dangerous. Daisy retorts that he said that about Mack and YoYo. They fight with words. Daisy says the Kree let the FW run because it keeps the people who use it placid. She tells him they’ve seen it in action. He says he runs it so people can have a break from the daily grind and that mankind is a breath away from extinction.
The news playing on the TV in the background shows Daisy Johnson, SHIELD agent and Deke says that that’s what he’s been looking for. Deke says that he’s the only one who has put their history together and that he knows the force that can rip a planet apart is “You.”
As Deke talks, we see a montage of Grill showing the team the ropes of their new job, May watching a dead guy get wheeled away and comforting Tess, and then Simmons being dressed and made up to look like one of Kasius’s chosen people.
Deke shows Daisy the Earth or what’s left of it.
TAG SCENE:
Kasius tells Jemma that he heard she’s learning well. She can hear him but the sound is weird and not in sync with his mouth movements. Kasius says, “that’s good. Just in time for my guests.”
