Anyone else have a problem with this site? Every time I go to a new page, it creates four instances in my history. Anyway... Lots of spoilers here. I think there were good points, and bad points. (It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.) First, let me say, that if I had any expectations of what this season was going it be, it went off the rails about 10 minutes in. It was cool that they started from the end of S4, when the alien abducted the team. Wait. AN ALIEN ABDUCTED THE TEAM??? (So much for SHIELD or SWORD putting the team in a jail, huh? Also the mis-direction of the teaser, which actually looks to be part of s5e3 or later.) The (new) Monolith. So, stone monoliths exists, that not only can open portals across the galaxy, but can now teleport through space and time. I'd have a big problem with this, however, with the events in S4, did the team get teleported though space and time, or did they just get popped into another reality? (Remember Ghost Rider's closing remarks...) Which opens the question, did Hive exist in another part of the Galaxy, or just another dimension? May gets teleported and ends up with a pipe through her leg. You know, in real sci-fi, if solid matter gets transported into solid matter, bad stuff happens. I'm glad to see in the 22nd century, turning things off then back on still works. Nice Millennium Falcon reference there, too. I also find it highly improbable that May could fly a spaceship, much less re-dock the ship. (That was solved by no showing it...) A female kree Captain Queeg. I wonder if she'll go insane wondering where the strawberries went? She's got a pair of badass balls, though. (Caine Mutiny reference.) Okay, Jemma, you've done some stupid things in the past, but playing doctor was one of the dumbest. Let's draw all sorts of attention to yourself. Did you not learn anything from your time in HYDRA? She could have stopped the bleeding in other ways than cauterizing the wound. That Jemma would expose herself like that made no sense... sigh. The Framework still exists, even without the Darkhold. I did like how all the clouds looked alike. Sorta like Andy's bedroom. (That's a Toy Story reference.) I've always heard it as "Shiva, Destroyer of Worlds", but "Quake, Destroyer of Worlds" has a nice ring to it. So, questions/observations. Who's the alien that kidnapped the team? Why wasn't Fitz on the list? Why do I feel the child's drawings (at the start of Ep1) are important? One of the drawings had six people in it. The team without Fitz? Who's the guy arriving on the ship at the end? (It better not be Fitz with Madame Hydra...) If Daisy did indeed destroy Earth, it's after the time they were kidnapped, or in an alternate reality. Was the team sent there to show them what the consequences of their actions, or are they being shown what they need to stop from happening. Here's some WAG's. The first arc of the season will be their battle with the Kree to save humanity, and will probably find out what really happened to Earth. (But then too, they really don't have to save humanity, they just need to get back to their own place in space and time to prevent it from happening.) We know Fitz is working on the problem, but how did he know to write the postcard? (Back to the Future vibe there.) At some point, they have to go back to present day and show what Fitz is doing. They can't just keep crediting Iain De Caestecker without him showing up. (And come to think about it, Fitz doesn't have a lot of resources at his disposal at this point.) The second arc will be back on Earth, in the present day to prevent what happens to the Earth. Not to mention the Ivanov and possibly Vijay loose ends. I can't see this entire season in space... And I'm still hoping for the Agents of SHIELD: Infinity War arc... (Isn't the series finale just around the time Infinity War happens?)

Yes, I liked the Kree-g as well. A very enjoyable season opener for a season that I for one never expected to see. AoS lives up to a well-deserved reputation for audacity by taking a leap into MCU's future (okay, a future that will be 'put right' by the end of the season but that's a time-honoured tradition.) Hey, and there's Harvey Weinstein too!

The good thing about being completely spoiler free. No expectations at all. Though I have to admit that I was kinda bummed that they killed Aladdin Virgil off so quickly. It was cool that they started from the end of S4, when the alien abducted the team. Wait. AN ALIEN ABDUCTED THE TEAM??? (So much for SHIELD or SWORD putting the team in a jail, huh? Also the mis-direction of the teaser, which actually looks to be part of s5e3 or later.) Speaking of SWORD: How funny was Yoyo's line about SHIELD having a space division called "SPEAR"? Also, I for one was really glad they didn't go for Supernatural levels of gross when that dude took off his skin in the beginning. And the Bendeery Ale reference! Gosh, I can't wait to see Hunter again!!!!The (new) Monolith. My mind literally went, "Wait, what now?" when the stone appeared on the screen. Did NOT see that coming! Glad they continued right from the last episode and didn't go for a time jump at this point. So, stone monoliths exists, that not only can open portals across the galaxy, but can now teleport through space and time. Time and space, though? Considering they're still on what used to be Earth, it seems probable to me, that this monolith only allows one to travel through time. (Ignoring the fact that planets and solar systems move in space, obviously.) I'd have a big problem with this, however, with the events in S4, did the team get teleported though space and time, or did they just get popped into another reality? (Remember Ghost Rider's closing remarks...) Which opens the question, did Hive exist in another part of the Galaxy, or just another dimension? I don't see how another reality/dimension is involved here. They're in the (/a potential) future, simple as that. May gets teleported and ends up with a pipe through her leg. You know, in real sci-fi, if solid matter gets transported into solid matter, bad stuff happens. What, a pipe through her leg wasn't bad enough? I'm glad to see in the 22nd century, turning things off then back on still works. Nice Millennium Falcon reference there, too. I also find it highly improbable that May could fly a spaceship, much less re-dock the ship. (That was solved by no showing it...) Flying a space ship was on May's bucket list for years, I fully believe she can manage to fly it! What I did have a problem with, on the other hand, was her kicking ass left and right after having a metal pipe through her leg just earlier! (Plus having spent the last few weeks in the framework with no physical movement at all, which should still effect her, since she woke up YESTERDAY!)A female kree Captain Queeg. I wonder if she'll go insane wondering where the strawberries went? She's got a pair of badass balls, though. (Caine Mutiny reference.) Blue-skinned space babe. Awesome! The dress reminded me of Jessica Alba back in the day on Dark Angel. Nice outfit! Okay, Jemma, you've done some stupid things in the past, but playing doctor was one of the dumbest. Let's draw all sorts of attention to yourself. Did you not learn anything from your time in HYDRA? She could have stopped the bleeding in other ways than cauterizing the wound. That Jemma would expose herself like that made no sense... Yeah, that one made me groan!sigh. The Framework still exists, even without the Darkhold. I did like how all the clouds looked alike. Sorta like Andy's bedroom. (That's a Toy Story reference.) Interestingly enough, that was the same building as the one we saw at the end of episode 4x15, when the team gets trapped in the framework and Fitz gets out of a limousine. At this point I'm convinced the location scouts just really love this building. It is pretty cool, though, I have to admit.I've always heard it as "Shiva, Destroyer of Worlds", but "Quake, Destroyer of Worlds" has a nice ring to it. I don't know, I don't believe it. Even if Deke actually believes Skye destroyed the planet, doesn't mean it's actually true. So, questions/observations. Who's the alien that kidnapped the team? Why wasn't Fitz on the list? Why do I feel the child's drawings (at the start of Ep1) are important? One of the drawings had six people in it. More accurately, that was a drawing of six people inside a person! So weird! They can't just keep crediting Iain De Caestecker without him showing up. (And come to think about it, Fitz doesn't have a lot of resources at his disposal at this point.) I assume we'll see Fitz again next episode. Or at least I hope so The second arc will be back on Earth, in the present day to prevent what happens to the Earth. Not to mention the Ivanov and possibly Vijay loose ends. I can't see this entire season in space... Yeah, me neither. Plus, you're right, Ivanov is a massive loose end at this point. Though, for all we know, he's probably holed up somewhere with Ian Quinn and Graviton right now, planning their world domination! And I'm still hoping for the Agents of SHIELD: Infinity War arc... (Isn't the series finale just around the time Infinity War happens?) You know, on the one hand I really don't see it happening, not after all this time. Then again, the Earth has been blown to bits and I think it would be much more likely for the fight against Thanos to be the cause of that than Skye having a bad day. Plus, we all know that Marvel/Disney put their foot down to keep the show on the air, so who's to say they didn't have a damn good reason beyond marketing for that?Btw, this had to be my favourite part of the ep. Literal laugh-out-loud moment for me! Oh, and did I complain about Mack being a violent jerk yet? Damn, this all could have been so much easier if he hadn't hit first and asked questions later! (Reminded me of that time he almost broke Lincoln's skull right as the guy was switching sides. )

My take on the premiere. A bit underwhelmed, actually. I mean, it was good, lots better than the season 4 premiere, yet it still felt 'crammed', like they were trying to introduce too much story line at once, just like last year. I agree with others about Jemma's poor decision to cauterize the wound. I guess that is just a doctor's creed, to help those in need regardless of the consequences. Some quite extenuating circumstances in play here, though. Also, May being 'up and running' full tilt, after just having been impaled, was very, very weak writing. (As ayanami pointed out, she had been sedentary for weeks, as well). Mack being a class A jerk in top form wasn't too fun either. I really wish Coulson had told him, "you want out? FINE. You are on your own. Find your own way off the space station." The Kree leader that deafened Jemma looked like he would be better off playing a gay character on 'Inhumans'. WTF with all the eyeliner? Rocky Horror nod? This show always flirts with the fourth wall, and this episode was almost over the line. Mack's trope comment about being the first to be killed; Coulson saying 'this is the coolest we've ever looked....nah, didn't work for me. And they just had to throw in some political commentary (North Korea). Why can't they just tell their own story, and keep current real-world events out of it? That being said, I did enjoy it. After all, its the best Marvel product on the market, IMO. And that damn building..again! It jumped out at me immediately, yet I still can't figure out from where (apart from the limo scene). One of these days, I'm going to get to the bottom of that!

My take as well. I really liked it. Fresh and eventfull. I didn't have the feeling it was crammed. Watching it a few times, not really much happened. It was mostly about discovering the knew world. Some random thoughts: - loved the opening scene with the bald captain. What song did they play? Sounded very familiar. - Another vacation for Simmons. This time Fitz was so gentle to send her and the team a postcard. - Simmons was (as usual) good friends with the commander/leader in no time. She really knows how to make a fast career for herself. A good living. Good for her! How long before she is commander herself? - Daisy. Tear the world apart. If only they had listened to Lady Sif - How can Daisy have torn the world apart if she had skipped that part of history? Ah. Time travel. Always confusing. - Fitz has made it clear that the future is fixed once it is known. So, the earth has been destroyed and that can never been made undone. Where is the catch here? I lean towards another reality, backroadjunkie . A reality in which this reality's Daisy destroyed the world. But our Daisy didn't. - What are the chances that Daisy shows up in a computer program in a news item more than 90 years in the future? - When a portal connects two points in space it also connects two point in time. And vice-versa. Because it is space-time. Space and time are connected to each other. - the captain that kidnapped them isn't Kree. What race is he? Why would they sent him here? What purpose? Why is Fitz not on the list? - a mystery and survival for the team - the Bus survived. Well, the yellow schoolbus did. - Nice corpses as a welcome gift for Jemma.

She works better slightly outside of the spotlight. She would rather get things done while the person with the title is attending meetings and making statements. 2. That is only a prognosis on the part of Fitz and it's likely wrong. If it were right and someone managed to travel back in time it would mean they could do anything they want with no consequences which is highly unlikely. 3. By chance? Incredibly slim. However I see two possible reasons - a: it's a clue to finding a message from Fitz that he left for the team or b: Deke's belief that Daisy caused all the problems made him find the item to put in the program. Also, the two may not be independent possibilities - the message Fitz might have put in could be the source of Deke's theory/obsession.

One of these days, I'm going to get to the bottom of that! Since I've taken up episode-recapping duties for the Level7Access podcast, I now have to know everyone's names. The dude that deafened Jemma is Kasius (pronounced Kass Eye Us). His lackey woman with the balls is Sinara (Sinn Are Uh). And let me be the first to say, I had two problems with something Coulson said. The line you brought up doesn't make sense to me (I almost wonder if CG delivered it wrong). And also, I didn't like that he told Deke that he was from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. I feel like, in the context of their conversation, Coulson should have instead say where they were taken from (what state). But, I am retroactively putting it in my headcanon that that was TeacherCoulson speaking, NOT Agent Coulson, because Agent Coulson wouldn't say the last thing, he might say the first thing. As for Mack, yeah Mack is on my "Let's see what happens list" because I didn't like that he was complaining that Coulson didn't bring his robo-hand. Sure, he was having a mini breakdown, but Mack was acting as if Coulson had super powers that he suddenly couldn't use and Mack was his 10yr old biggest fan. Then, there was Mack's comment about them needing 'a system' for getting rid of the Kree they've killed. Something about that line, and the circumstances surrounding it, didn't sit well with me. May's mobility doesn't bother me, especially since Ming is *actually* hurt. For some reason, that she is actually hurt, makes it easier for me to forgive the show for making her move so much. Ming the actress wouldn't be moving if she couldn't, so it stands to reason its the same with May. It's how I felt about CG having a broken leg at the end of season 3, but Coulson acting as if it's a slight annoyance. Lastly, Jemma. What she did was a perfectly Jemma thing and I can almost see Coulson or Daisy doing it too in her position. One thing I will call Jemma on is her yelling, "What's wrong with you!?" when Kasius had just killed his 'favorite'. Anyone else would've known to keep their mouth shut then, especially when it was obvious that that was bothering Kasius. I feel terrible that he made her deaf for it, but she should have known better.

I won't get into the minutia or debates over what might happen etc.
Had to squeeze in my own private watch on demand between family commitments. Really enjoyed it and was not at all what I expected. Yeah maybe it might be a formula where it ends with everything "put right" but even if they do go that route (fine by me) I suspect there will be a few unpredictable twists along the way that won't get wiped clean.
The only specific item I'll chime in on: Jemma wasn't "made deaf" as some sort of punishment or anything, seemed really clear to me (though I could be wrong) that Kasius is using some some sort of Wrath of Khan type of thing to control his "favorites". Looks like tech though rather than an actual creature.
Anyway, can't wait for episode 3.

If only they had listened to Lady Sif - How can Daisy have torn the world apart if she had skipped that part of history? Ah. Time travel. Always confusing. - 2. Fitz has made it clear that the future is fixed once it is known. So, the earth has been destroyed and that can never been made undone. Where is the catch here? I lean towards another reality, backroadjunkie . A reality in which this reality's Daisy destroyed the world. But our Daisy didn't. - 3. What are the chances that Daisy shows up in a computer program in a news item more than 90 years in the future?- When a portal connects two points in space it also connects two point in time. 1. Probably never. 1. I know. Was just joking. 2. To me that was established as a scientific fact from General Relativity theory in that episode and far from a prognosis. 3. The second one is solid and definitely explains it. The first is even more interesting in a more general setting. The so called followers were probably descendants from people who have helped Fitz in his quest. I think that Fitz left the basics of this framework to communicate with his team or just inform them. Or just for his followers. Probably not, but how awesome would it be if Fitz would have managed to survive all this time and suddenly shows up as an very old man? 3.

I'd rather Jemma go in (with her hearing restored) and it triggers an interactive holographic Fitz.

Holographic Fitz would also be cool, but I thought that would be less of a suprise. Never heard of Cleopatra 2525
