So, it's been a couple days since I've seen it. Still feel like I'm digesting everything that happened, and am still unsure how I feel about certain elements.
But on the whole, awesome movie, a great ride. Loved most of the comedy (though I do think they could have maybe backed down in a few parts - more below in the spoiler tags), loved the action, and loved what quieter more serious moments there were. Loved Loki and Thor and their relationship in this. There was growth there. I mean, Loki is always going to be a gray character - it's his nature (and part of what I love about him), but... yeah. Good relationship between the brothers.
Score was awesome (especially near the end where the original Thor theme from the first film was used)
All the actors were great... both old actors as well as the new faces to the MCU. Loved the cameos, from Doctor Strange to, well... that actor in that scene on Asgard (if you've seen the movie, you should know what I'm talking about). Couldn't stop laughing.

Anywho, those are my thoughts for now... I might have more as I continue to digest. I'd like to see it in the theater again... just don't know when/if I'll be able to (November sure is a busy month for movies, there was this, Murder on the Orient Express is this upcoming weekend, Justice League the weekend following that).

-The fate of the warriors 3 I have to say I was not happy about. I mean, they're Thor's best friends on Asgard, a set who I already think were shafted a bit in the previous two films, and here they're just killed pretty much right off the bat? At least Hogun lasted a little bit longer than Volstagg and Fandral, but not by much. I was really really unhappy about their fate, and was even more unhappy that there was never a moment for Thor to learn of their death and have a moment of mourning from him. Yes, I know, he was already mourning his father, but still. Again, best friends here.
-As I noted above, I do think some of the comedy could have been backed down some in parts. For example, I get the idea of Thor not really understanding how the "Sun's getting real low" works with Hulk, and the initial times he used it, sure...funny. But it became overused, IMO. It needed to be something that was stopped sooner (either by Banner just telling him, that's not how it works/you're not Natasha, or Thor realizing himself that's not how it works).
-I mentioned the relationship between Thor and Loki above. Seriously, this was awesome. Chris and Tom just continue to sell this relationship so well. I LOVE that Thor himself has learned from the past, he no longer automatically assumes that Loki is really there and is constantly testing it. The moment between the two of them and Odin on that cliff edge was also really great. Most of all though was one of the scenes at the end, where Thor says (paraphrasing) "If you were really here I'd hug you." he throws an object (expecting it to go through Loki as he believes him to be an illusion), but Loki catches it and responds "I am here." I loved that scene (but would have loved it EVEN MORE if they had actually showed the brothers hugging!)
-And then Asgard's fate. My gosh. Loved the sentiment that "Asgard isn't a place, it's a people" (and that Hela couldn't understand that), but gosh dang it I was sad to see Surtur destroy that beautiful place And I really wasn't expecting it. I mean, I know what Ragnarok means, I do. But I didn't think they'd actually *do* it, you know?
