Ignoring the part where I wouldn't have been able to make it today, this would have been the perfect time for our last rewatch because it's National Ghost Hunting Day! www.nationalghosthuntingday.com/

Today is both National Angel Food Cake Day and National Cake Decorating Day, so I guess if you get an angel food cake and decorate it you're covered.

October 12 is National Farmer's Day.
Previously known as Old Farmer's Day, I don't know if the farmers were the ones who got it changed, but I can certainly see where they would want it changed.

October 27 is National American Beer Day! This is definitely a day that requires celebrating (yes, microbrews count)

(That Nick actually got to name! ) I've had Belgian Whites and Belgian Dubbels that were brewed at local microbreweries and were very good. Even if that isn't what he had in that scene, he'd probably be willing to give an American Belgian a try if nothing from Belgium was readily available.

It's Belgian beer in that particular scene and otherwise good ol' Bendeery English Ale. (That Nick actually got to name! ) My German friend, you have much to learn about America Not all of us drink redneck swill known as Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Coors Lite. (I get a big laugh out of the grocery stores in my new locale-over half the shelves are filled with those three brands alone). As far as a 'dark' beer goes, my choice here is limited to Shiner Bock (from a long-standing German style brewery in Texas), or a Negra Modelo from Mexico. I sure miss Austin, with 19 local breweries, at last count. My current favorite is called 'Thirsty Goat', from the Thirsty Planet Brewery. Its a nice, malty amber ale only available in a limited market around central Texas. I prefer it a lot over the hoppy IPA's that are popular as well. I've been known to have a Stella Artois from time to time, as well. Pretty light for my taste, though. Many, if not all, make a wide variety of ale, wheat beers, dopples, and pilsners. Here's a link listing over 30 microbreweries in Texas: www.austin360.com/interactive/brewguide/

Oh, ayanami , I DO give Germany and Austria due credit, don't get me wrong. I would be in heaven over there. The best beer I have ever tasted is a black ale, from a tiny little town in Austria. It is called Frastanzer Rubezahl.
