I'm gonna take a stab in the dark, and without looking it up, say: Name a cooker, a looker, and a hooker Am I close?
That's it.
well I am proud then! I really didn't look that up! Gonna give credit to my mom, who has conned me into doing crossword puzzles, and exercising my grammar/vocabulary skills.

Finishing up a project that I've been procrastinating on for months and that could have really screwed things up for me if I hadn't finished it now. Endless frustration, two consecutive nights without sleep (got in five hours just now, though, so I'm good), but it's done! Time to catch up with my shows (AoS!!) and my MCU rewatch that I had to delay.

A story that's on a sign on the wall at Jimmy John's:
An American investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The banker complimented the Mexican fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The fisherman replied, “Only a little while.” The banker then asked why didn’t he stay out longer and catch more fish? The fisherman said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs. The banker then asked, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?” The Mexican fisherman said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siestas with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine, and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life.” The investor scoffed, “I am an Ivy League MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats, and eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. “ The investor continued, “And instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would then sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing, and distribution! You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles and eventually New York City, where you will run your expanding enterprise.” The fisherman asked, “But how long will this all take?” To which the banker replied, “Perhaps 15 to 20 years.” “But what then?” asked the Mexican. The banker laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions!” “Millions. Okay, then what?” wondered the fisherman. To which the investment banker replied, “Then you would retire. You could move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siestas with your wife, and stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.”

Finally having enough inspiration (and emotional trauma! ) to write and post something again! Yay, Krypton!!!
Honestly, the last episode of that show had me reeling a hundred times more than anything AoS did this season...
Well, now I just gotta wait for FFN to add the category, so I can post there as well...

Jemma Simmons: Right? I always think the same thing when I see a movie that was adapted from source material but has been changed so much that it's unrecognizable.

ayanami: I gotta admit that "World War Z" is an incredibly cool name, but still, seems a bit pricey if you're just gonna ignore the whole rest of the novel.
Nov 24, 2024 23:10:42 GMT
ayanami: The book sounds really cool btw. It's about one guy 10 years after the zombie outbreak gathering different perspectives from a bunch of survivors, so you have like a dozen different stories/settings in the novel. Plus, the author is actually Mel Brooks'...
Nov 24, 2024 23:12:58 GMT
ayanami: ...son and apparently there's an audio book version of the novel featuring a bunch of Hollywood talents! (Gotta have connections in life! )
Nov 24, 2024 23:13:41 GMT
Jemma Simmons: What?! That's wild! I'll have to check into it!
Nov 24, 2024 23:14:18 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Sounds way more interesting than the movie, anyway!
Nov 24, 2024 23:14:32 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Oh, just FYI, next weekend is a holiday weekend here, so I won't be able to be around.
Nov 24, 2024 23:15:41 GMT
ayanami: Absolutely! Which makes it even more bewildering that they went with such a lame clichéd Hollywood story instead. Which, btw, is actually getting a sequel next year. Who'd have thunk it?!
Nov 24, 2024 23:17:08 GMT
ayanami: Ah, alright, thanks for the heads up.
Nov 24, 2024 23:18:07 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Yeah, that's something I've noticed lately too. Why the sudden need for sequels for 20-30 year old movies? Most of the time they're crap and I'd definitely rather see new material.
Nov 24, 2024 23:20:11 GMT
ayanami: I think I'm gotta call it a night now, though. I've got kind of an early morning coming up tomorrow and it's getting late over here.
Nov 24, 2024 23:20:18 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Alrighty! You have a good couple of weeks then! I'll be spending next weekend with some family I like and trying to avoid any remotely controversial conversations with others that I spend the rest of the year avoiding
Nov 24, 2024 23:21:10 GMT
ayanami: Tbf, World War Z is "only" from 2013, but yeah, I get your drift. Answer: Hollywood producers are all a bunch of chicken sh*ts, who only want to invest money into stuff with a recognisable name and a good track record, so only sequels, prequels and reboots
Nov 24, 2024 23:22:41 GMT
ayanami: From now until eternity!
Nov 24, 2024 23:22:53 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Heh, yeah that sounds about right!
Nov 24, 2024 23:23:16 GMT
Jemma Simmons: I will make an exception for the new Gladiator movie. I've heard it's actually pretty good!
Nov 24, 2024 23:23:33 GMT
ayanami: Yeah, I hope you have a fun few weeks and a nice family time. And don't choke on the turkey! I'll see you around, bosslady!
