Hate to be a bit of a buzz kill to the thread and come across as a nit picker ( ), but you're one year off. Avengers was in 2012. It's been 5 years, not 6

Does it help to know you're telling several people twice your age and up how old you feel? Now, it does. Sorry, didn't mean anything by it. It's actually rare that I feel old because I usually feel way younger than I actually am. That's mostly because I struggle mentally to keep up in conversations that are happening in the present or spend a lot of time having to have things explained to me that I should already know at my age (how to cook certain things for instance or how to fill out miscellaneous paperwork or even sometimes what to say to a specific person when calling them on the phone.)

No worries about me. I'm amused by it rather than offended. And even fewer worries about how to cook certain things, I know several people with advanced degrees who couldn't make ice without looking up the directions.

No worries about me. I'm amused by it rather than offended. And even fewer worries about how to cook certain things, I know several people with advanced degrees who couldn't make ice without looking up the directions. What, you mean to tell me I can make my own ice? Seriously though, I did not realize until very recent years, that I had no clue how to make mashed potatoes, or cook spaghetti noodles! Had to rely on Mom or the 'net for instructions. If it doesn't involve using a bbq grill, chances are good I haven't cooked it. Except bacon and eggs. And to caseyrook AKA Mechelle, here's my thoughts on aging. And I've been thinking about it longer than anyone here, apparently. The 20 year gap between the ages of 20 and 40 looks FAR, FAR larger from the 20 yr. old side, than it does from the 40 year side. Same for 40-60, or just pick your numbers. It speeds up exponentially. I currently hang out and have good conversations and times with people older than me, down to about 25 yrs. old or so. We all relate to life the same, go tubing down the river, have an after-work brew or two, watch bands play, and go camping, so on...whether we agree on stuff about politics/religion/etc. or not. (Younger than that, and I do have a tougher time relating, but even then there are exceptions) I think that when you realize that age means nothing, is the point where you have truly reached adulthood. Its nothing but how many times you have circled the sun. And to extend the thought, I think when you reach the point where you can no longer do that, then you have reached 'old age' status. Although I certainly have more of a perspective on mortality than I used to, Had a very nearly fatal battle with the flu 4 yrs ago, and it took some permanent wind out of my sails, and lost about 60 lbs. that I didn't need to lose, I hope to stay forever young, on this end!
