I have my eye on the piano sheet music for this one. Don't know if I'll be able to handle it. It's not an easy piece to play. I had the sheet music when I was young. A friend could play the heck out of it. It sounds great on the piano. This song always makes me smile.

Just scanned the whole thread, and surprised this hasn't been posted. Great song, great movie. Plus I need to go back and give some 'likes' for some that slipped by me, now that I'm logged in!

Along with a Winchester Cathedral duet with a trombone player.

I am reviving this thread in honor of Ennio Morricone's death this morning. This is probably his most iconic theme, which has appeared earlier in this thread: This version is also worth a listen: This is one of my favorites: The obituary in the Los Angeles Times said that the score for The Mission was voted the greatest score of all time in a Variety poll. I have not been able to find the poll to confirm this.

Angelo Badalamenti died yesterday. He is probably best known for his work with David Lynch, especially on Twin Peaks. During the pandemic, I did a rewatch of Twin Peaks or, actually a rewatch of the two seasons that aired in the early 1990s before watching Twin Peaks: The Return for the first time. One of the things that I noticed in the rewatch was how good Badalamenti's score was and how important it was to the show itself.
Here is a video of the opening theme for Twin Peaks:
This is "Laura's Theme," also from Twin Peaks:
No sample of Badalamenti's work is complete without a colaboration with Julie Cruise. This is "Mysteries of Love" from Blue Velvet:
Just to show that Badalamenti was not limited to David Lynch's work, this is "L'anniversaire d'Irvin" from Badalamenti's score for The City of Lost Children.
This one is the main title theme from Secretary:
This one is "Execution and Attack" from Stalingrad:
