When she was sitting with those soldiers in the woods, though, I just kept repeating: "Please don't kill them, please don't kill them!" So what if they were Lannister soldiers? They weren't cruel, they didn't boast about their kills or anything; how is it their fault that they happened to be born in an area that makes the Lannisters their lords? I'm not even sure there was any 'guest right' involved. I just didn't want Arya to become an even more coldhearted killer!
Overall, I wasn't entirely happy about the first two episodes, though. Ever since season six, you can really tell in the writing department that they don't have George's books as a blue print anymore. Don't get me wrong, the show is still awesome, it's just missing that little extra spark at times that really set it apart from anything else I've ever seen.
And, finally, the one honest complaint I have is that I can't stand those constant dreary colours in the wardrobe department any longer! Cercei, and with her most of King's Landing, has abandoned the red and gold in favour of black and gold ever since Joffrey's and then Tywin's death, now Olenna is in mourning, too, and even Daenerys has given up her beautiful blue, yellow or white dresses in favour of black leather! What the hell, people?!? Yeah, yeah, winter is here, but we ain't frickin dead yet!
Seriously, though, how awesome is Sam in the Citadel?? And helping my favourite character, no less!
"Sooner or later, humans will kill all the Aen Seidhe. All dwarves and gnomes. Then they'll start murdering one another. Your kind knows no other way. It's in your genes. You keep killing each other until only one remains. The strongest among you. A thousand years from now, a dim-witted human barbarian will climb to the top of a pile of bones, sit down and proclaim: "I win"."

I totally agree with a lot of what you said. I am enjoying this season, mostly because things are happening much faster than they did in previous seasons, but you can definitely tell that they no longer have the books to follow.
As far as the colors, well no wonder they're so dark and gloomy. I mean, winter is finally HERE! No we ain't dead yet, but we do have to keep warm and the costume people have to convey the sense of gloom. But you're right. Even places that were traditionally colorful aren't.
Baelish's days are numbered. It seems like Arya should make it to Winterfell in the next episode or two, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Sansa have Arya deal with him. This is especially true if his role in their father's death comes out.
not sad to see the Sand Snakes go. They've been annoying since their introduction, and I'm not going to lie that it was satisfying to see two of them go. I have heard rumours of Elaria and Tyene's fates next week, and we'll see if those end up being true.
And yikes!! Just when you think nobody can be more insane than Ramsay Bolton, along comes
Euron Greyjoy! The man's a friggin' loon! I am wondering if his making a gift of Elaria and Tyene and possibly Yara will cause Cercei to rethink his marriage proposal?
As far as Sam in the Citadel, I'm sure he's learning a lot, but the job seems pretty s***ty!
Melisandre was interesting. I will never forgive the character for what she did to Shireen no matter who she resurrects, but I do believe that her visions are real. Her interpretation of them is, however, imperfect and oft times incorrect. I honestly think when the entire story is all said and done, there won't BE an Iron Throne to sit on, and not much of a kingdom left in need of rule.
Last Edit: Jul 24, 2017 23:54:58 GMT by Jemma Simmons
I note that Melisandre oh so conveniently left out that Jon Snow was resurrected from death when asked why she believed him to play a part in the prophecy. I don't expect Jon to be forthcoming with that topic either... might take Davos bringing it up
Loved that Tyrion's message to Jon was a bit better worded than what Daenerys seemed to implicate (given that she told him to send a message pretty much exactly the same as what Cersei sent to Jon in the first episode). I hope that, in regards to Jon, Daenerys does trust Tyrion's judgement on this. I actually like the friendship that Jon and Tyrion had.
Sam being the only one willing to try and help Jorah... though ick with the procedure
Arya's face when Hot Pie told her that the Bolton's were dead and Jon was now King in the North, Maisie did amazing with portraying just that raw emotion. Not going to lie that when she exited the inn and on her horse clearly debating whether to continue heading south or not I was chanting at my screen for her to turn north.
Then the scene with her and Nymeria and the callback to season 1 where Arya told Ned that (all the fancy dress, marrying, being the lady of a household and mother to more lords and ladies) "wasn't her" only now referencing that being at Arya's side is 'not [Nymeria]'... not anymore. Both she and Nymeria have their own paths now. I hope that's not the last we see of that direwolf though.
Jon leaving Sansa in charge, shows the trust that he *does* have in her and I hope she doesn't let him down. Loved him not being swayed by Little Finger's words down in the crypt. You can tell LF is using every ounce of his silver tongue to try and get on Jon's good side, but Jon's not having any of it... and then LF really messes up by saying how he loves Sansa. Jon knows exactly what LF is. I think it's only a matter of time before LF's part to play in Ned's death comes out and then it's just going to be which child of Ned's will be the one to off LF.
I know they're building Euron up to be this big nasty, but even so... wasn't that sad to see the Sand Snakes get theirs. Poor Theon though.
Anywho...like I said, just a couple of my thoughts. Was very disappointed to hear that there was *supposed* to be
a scene between Jon and Ghost before he leaves Winterfell (something along the lines of Jon telling Ghost to remain at Winterfell (maybe protect Sansa?) - from what I heard on other forums) but it ended up being cut (it's like what?! are we limited to just one direwolf a season at this point?!)
Will be interesting to see what happens next episode with
How is anything that happened on the show at any point not related to what happened earlier? Sure, things move forward, but it's all a logical series of events.
seasons 4,5 and half of 6 just totally lost my interest. With Arya --what was it, even--was she the silent kid for a while or something? , the witches, burning kids at the stake, and Bran hooking up with the old man in the tree. I am glad to be back to Cersie & family, Kaleesi, and Snow. At least, mainly. Littlefinger is still a creep though! God I hope he perishes at the hand of Sensa. Obviously, I didn't keep up with it that much the last few seasons.
Continuing the discussion here, instead of in the Fun Stuff thread...
The Red Woman ain't really a witch, Arya became no-one, just like Jaqen H'ghar, whom we first met in S2, Bran followed the path he'd been going since S1 (and even more so in S3 when he met Jojen and Meera Reed) and there was only one child burned at a stake. Plus, we never ever left Cercei & family (Kings Landing had probably the best scenes in S4!), Daenerys or Jon. I'm not gonna list all the plotlines of S4-6 of Game of Thrones - mostly because I want to go to bed at some point tonight - but I really don't see any jarring difference between those seasons and the first three. Well, except one, I guess. If you (general you) were a big fan of Robb and Catelyn Stark and their campaign against the Lannisters, then I suppose it's reasonable to feel disappointed.
Or Gendry! Sucks to be a Gendry fan on this show!
"Sooner or later, humans will kill all the Aen Seidhe. All dwarves and gnomes. Then they'll start murdering one another. Your kind knows no other way. It's in your genes. The meeting between Jon and Dany went about like I expected (unlike others on the internet, I never really expected them to have this instant connection/for everything to be hunky-dory between the two of them). The reunion between Jon and Tyrion had been what I was most looking forward to and it didn't disappoint (I've said on twitter, I think only a Jon/Arya reunion can top the Jon/Tyrion reunion). I especially loved the beginning of the cliff top scene where Tyrion's going on about brooding and how Jon makes him look bad at brooding. Davos was just... poor guy, still doesn't quite know what he's doing as an advisor to a king *lol* (seriously, the guy could have at least thrown in "Former Lord Commander of the Night's Watch" and "The White Wolf" to Jon's title of King in the North)
Not a huge fan of the direction they're going with Bran. I mean, I get what they're trying to do, but I'm not sure it's coming across the way it should.
Also, am I the only one that saw that Little Finger seemed oddly interested in the fact that Maester Luwin kept a copy of all the raven's scrolls? Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the look he gave the Maester talking to Sansa when he said that just seemed like a bit of interest.

Maria Hill: ...Then aliens invaded New York and were beaten back, by among others, a giant green monster, a costumed hero from the 40's.... and a god.
Grant Ward: I don't think Thor is technically a god.
Maria Hill: Well...you haven't been near his arms.
Sir Davos to Gendry: "I thought you might still be rowing." I just did a spit-take all over my monitor!
Lol, yeah, that line was no accident! I had a good laugh as well.

Jemma Simmons: I will say that is one thing that Agatha All Along got right. They did a phenomenal job of planting hints throughout but it not really being obvious until the end. Reminded me of WandaVision that way.

Jemma Simmons: And yes, I think AoS did such a fantastic job at character/world building. I know that was one of the complaints about Season 1.
Nov 10, 2024 23:04:32 GMT
Jemma Simmons: That they took too long to introduce stuff... but honestly the slow build was the payoff.
Nov 10, 2024 23:04:51 GMT
ayanami: Yeah, I wish they'd managed to throw in some Avengers cameos along the way. You know, to keep audience numbers high until the story really took off.
Nov 10, 2024 23:07:44 GMT
ayanami: Idk, Ironman flying alongside the Bus. Stuff like that.
Nov 10, 2024 23:08:50 GMT
Jemma Simmons: LOL that would have been awesome! I got the idea they might like to do that, but I suspect the main actors were too expensive. Although we did get Fury a few times. And the occasional Maria Hill.
Nov 10, 2024 23:09:58 GMT
ayanami: Also, should have scrapped and re-done episode 2 from scratch. Not a horrible episode all together, but what a slow, low-budget let-down from the pilot and the general MCU world in general. I bet the ratings drop between eps 2 and 3 was massive!
Nov 10, 2024 23:11:30 GMT
ayanami: Yeah, Fury was great! Plus, he was really necessary to tie the story together in S1.
Nov 10, 2024 23:12:16 GMT
Jemma Simmons: I think the other issue with the first couple seasons as far as pacing had to do with them tying in the show to the movies and not being able to address the movie on the show until the movie was released.
Nov 10, 2024 23:13:19 GMT
Jemma Simmons: And yeah, Fury was great! His appearances never felt forced either. Like you said, he was necessary to the plot and it fit that he was there.
Nov 10, 2024 23:14:22 GMT
ayanami: True. But low-budget eps right at the start of the show, special effects stolen right out of Firefly and cringy humour certainly didn't help their case, either.
Nov 10, 2024 23:14:49 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Ha, no. But every show has to find its footing that first season.
Nov 10, 2024 23:15:47 GMT
Jemma Simmons: I just keep wondering if we might ever see any AoS characters on What If?
Nov 10, 2024 23:16:11 GMT
Jemma Simmons: I mean that would be really easy to bring them in on. I can't see doing the voice work taking long.
Nov 10, 2024 23:16:27 GMT
ayanami: That would be very cool. I'd love to see that!
Nov 10, 2024 23:18:49 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Me too! Have to wonder how many of the cast at this point would be willing to do it. It would be neat to see them though!
Nov 10, 2024 23:20:22 GMT
ayanami: Alrighty then, since it's getting late over here, I think I'm gonna peace off now. I hope you have a great week ahead of you, until next Sunday! See you around, bosslady!
Nov 10, 2024 23:20:27 GMT
Jemma Simmons: You have a good week too! See you next week!
Nov 10, 2024 23:21:21 GMT
ayanami: I would hope everyone. I mean, it's a paycheck and voice work should not be that hard to fit into their usual schedules.
