While I'm not sure it would have been that easy (i.e. if Star Lord had held back I don't know that Thanos wouldn't have resisted on his own) that was a moment in the film for sure. My head canon has it that Thanos is basically toying with Peter at that point or maybe even deliberately trying to use Peter to help him escape from Mantis more easily.
