Wow. This episode flew by. I did start to get a Video/Audio mis-sync halfway through the show. Must have been the gravitonium...
Again, no real time to edit the post down. This is the long version...
Prologue: Talbot compromised. Eyes on the prize. Complete the mission. Man, I hate Hydra.
Ruby (doing target practicing with Simmons or at Simmons): Aw, you two are adorable. I ship it. I really do.
Simmons: Do you have any idea of the consequences of what you're trying to do? We've seen where this leads.
Ruby: Your little trip to the future? Coulson filled me in.
Simmons: Then you know you destroy everything. The entire planet.
Ruby: See I thought your pal Daisy did all of that. You people really need to get your story straight.
Fitz: Everyone you care about will die.
Ruby: Not a long list.
Strucker (entering room): And it's getting shorter. Found Anton. What's left of him. He took a header out a window.
Wait. That was a robot. Where's the actual head-in-a-jar? Still on the sub? In Hale's base?
Ruby (to Fitz): Hey! Pick up the pace. Or I start removing body parts. Like I did to your friend.
Ruby, you need to die. I'll give you about 45 minutes...
(Heading into meeting of team without the three invincibles)
May: You're late.
Coulson: Hold up. Please. We didn't have a chance to finish our conversation.
May: I said what I had to say. (Coulson about to speak....) We have a mission Phil.
Coulson:
Good time Phil. Good time.(I've been corrected, this should say, "Good talk, Phil. Good Talk." See posts below...)
Daisy: (to mack): Mack, find Fitz's schematic and start building the artificial gravity system for Zephyr One.
Mack: Oh, please don't tell me we're going back to space.
Daisy: Not until we have to.
Deke: Me? You need me to back you up?
Daisy: You literally just got shot, why are you out of bed?
Deke: I've handled worse...
Daisy: Um, no. You stay here and help Mack.
Deke: Alright, yeah, if that's how you want to play it.
Mack (to himself): Awesome.
Doesn't anyone (other than Simmons) like Deke? It would help if Deke wasn't a love sick idiot.
Coulson: You're getting good at this. You are.
Daisy: I have a feeling professor Coulson was easy on his student. I should at least lose points for the the mutiny on day one.
Coulson: For sure. But I'm throwing you some extra credit for a well timed rescue. Give 'em hell.
Daisy: Yes sir.
Does anyone else think the non-invincible half of the team isn't particularly worried about the invincible half?
Hale's minion (Candice?) releases Hale from Ruby's room...
Hale: Get me Anton on the line.
Minion: I can't, maam. He's dead. I called in reinforcements here because his mechs went down. We picked these up right before they went offline.
This is the second reference to his death. They killed an LMD. AFAIK, his head is in a jar. Can he die?
Hale: Mr. Creel. How can we help you?
Creel: You can't. No one can. They won't stop shouting.
Minion: Voices, he says.
Creel: They hate each other. Quinn likes to feel more, but Hall is smart, but Quinn is louder.
Hale: Quinn? Ian Quinn?
Creel: It consumed him. Franklin wanted revenge, but now he's stuck with him. Forever.
Hale: They're inside the gravitonium.
Creel: Their might. Their rage.
Minion: Ma'am. He only touched them for a moment. If Ruby infuses herself with...
Creel: To the hell with her. What about me? They want out. They want out! Get them out!
And so confirmed: Franklin Hall and Ian Quinn both in the gravitonium. They hate each other and have been in intimate company for the past four years. No wonder Creel's having problems.
Coulson (to Mack, working on making the Zephyr space-worthy): You making some progress?
Mack: Yeah, it's coming along, but I gotta say, the idea of the Zephyr flying in space still feels a bit out there.
Deke: Yeah, well I'm not even going to be born for another 50 years, so maybe rethink "out there".
Coulson: Well, let's hope it never happens, but if we can't change things, then...
Mack: Always be prepared. Yeah, yeah.
Deke: You guys need to relax. Daisy is going to figure all this stuff out... (Coulson, Mack exchange glances.) What was that?
Mack: Dude's got it bad.
Deke: Whatever that means.
Mack: (sigh) You're in love with her.
Deke: Sorry? (laughing) No. No offense Mack, but I think your radar is way misfiring on this one.
Coulson: That was convincing. I believe him.
Deke: Thank you.
Mack: You confessed you idiot. When you were hopped up on pain-killers. Piper and I couldn't get you to shut up about it.
Deke: No? That's... Okay guys, what, you never heard that drugs can make you say stuff a little crazy, maybe that's what
(unintelligible) your bad. (Edit: polgara says this was, "that's what makes drugs bad.")
Coulson: It's obvious. I figured it out a while ago.
Deke: Well, it doesn't matter. She hates me anyway.
Coulson: Most definitely.
Deke: Just for grins, say I were interested. In some way. Anyway, how would I... (to Mack) Like you got a good thing going.
Mack: Don't look at me. Last time I saw YoYo, she lied to me, locked me up and ran off.
Deke: (desperately) Coulson?
Coulson: Sorry bro. Apparently I'm incapable of expressing my feelings or letting people take care of me.
Deke: You guys are useless. It's lemons then.
Coulson: Come again?
Deke: In my day, when you wanted to tell someone how you felt, you just save up your tokens, you buy a lemon and leave it on their bunk. That's a thing here right?
Coulson: I don't understand...
Mack: (interrupting) Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Coulson: When in doubt..
Mack: You should do that.
Coulson: Get a bunch of lemons.
(Deke nods, looks happy.)
Well, we now know why Deke likes that lemon scented spray. You know what they say about getting a lemon and making lemonade...
And did anyone notice is was the guys at the Lighthouse and the gals on the Zephyr?
Talbot enters Robin's room, looks at drawings. There's a drawing of the time monolith, a gravity storm, and buildings? Another of the Zephyr flying, which cuts to the real Zephyr flying...
Daisy: It feels good, going on offense for a change, you and me.
(Hands May a pistol.)
May: If I need one I'll take one. I've got some pent up aggression I need to let out.
Daisy: Want to talk about it?
May: No, I wanna hit.
(Daisy smiles.)
Minion: Agent Johnson, system check is complete.
Daisy: Go hot, wait for our signal. Thomas, initiate launch countdown. And try not to hit us on the way down.
Thomas: Copy that. 10 seconds.
May: Safety first.
Daisy: Always. Game on...
lol. And the pod falls out of the Zephyr, along with a missle to blow a hole into the base. Something about that scene was oddly satisfying.
And it was very nice of Daisy to punch that guy through a door, and the poor guy who must have had the word "Phil" on his forehead that May gave a couple of extra wacks to...
I forgot what movie it came from, but, "There are guys who'd pay for something like that" comes to mind...
And Ruby continues to threaten Fitz and Simmons. Someone should kill her. Maybe in about 20 minutes or so...
(As an aside, during my broadcast, Audio/Visual sync starts to degrade here. It got worse through the rest of the show, but didn't affect my DVR...)
Talbot's job is to kidnap Robin? (We're shown a drawing of Ruby and Strucker surrounded by blood, with 5 other people. (Hale, Daisy, May, Fitz and Simmons? What about Yo-Yo?)
Talbot: Now, now. There's no need to be afraid of me. I'm Glenn.
Robin: You're the General.
Talbot: That's right. How did you know that?
Robin: I've drawn you.
In the real world, that would have frightened me more than May being pissed at me...
Daisy (from the Zephyr): There's something wrong with him. Creel touched the gravitonium and felt people in there.
Coulson: Franklin Hall.
May: Ian Quinn, too.
Daisy: We've seen it consume people, but apparently it also absorbs their conciousness.
Deke: Is that even possible?
Mack: Well, assume the answer to that question is always yes.
Coulson: How's Creel doing now?
May: He's barely hanging on, lost in his own head. We had to sedate him.
Coulson: We have to get him help. I owe him that much.
Daisy: And we will, but right now we have to stop Ruby.
May: According to Hale, Fitz and Simmons have been spotted on-site.
Mack: Dammit, Yo-Yo. If that crazy Hydra girl powers herself...
Deke: Daisy, you can't go there. That's too dangerous.
Daisy: For the hundredth time, I'm not going to quake the world apart.
Deke: That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying you have to be careful...
Daisy: No matter what, I'm not going to use my powers around the gravitonium.
Coulson: If you won't quake-in Ruby's power, she'll kill you.
Daisy: Sir! You brought me back to lead. This is what that looks like.
Coulson: You can't put yourself at risk like that.
May: We'll make those decisions, Phil. Not you.
Daisy: Look. We'll need every advantage we can get. So, go though Robin's drawings and see if there's anything we can use.
(Zephyr signs off.)
Deke: Women, huh?
Mack: Shut up, Lemons.
HAhahahahaha....
Talbot knocks out Robin's mom.
Talbot: You're coming with me .
Robin: I know.
The Zephyr lands, FitzSimmons finishes the chamber, gravitonium flows though a tube, and the next scene Deke is in, he has a lemon. HAhahahahaha...
In Robin's room:
Coulson: Polly. She's breathing.
Deke: Where's Robin?
Coulson: We've been breached. Someone must have been able to (unintelligble) the lighthouse
Mack: He took her. Talbot took Robin.
Coulson: No. He wouldn't.
Mack: Earlier I saw him, he... He's messing with the feeds and something he said. Said he's happy to comply.
Coulson: Hydra had him for six months. How could I have missed it? We have to find him.
Deke: (about Polly) I'll stay with her.
(Camera pans down to show drawing of someone surrounded by blue dots with 8 people inside it. Is it Ruby? Hall and Quinn in the head with Hale, May, Daisy, Yo-Yo, Fitz and Simmons? That drawing is still a mystery. It does mean something. The camera reveal was too long for it not to.)
Yep, as I said last week. With Hall and Quinn in the gravitonium, it's going to get crowded inside of Ruby. I mean, what else did you expect to happen?
And ewwww... Strucker got a little head. Probaby not the kind he wanted, but fully deserved.
The intercuts between Ruby and Talbot is well done. Kept the tension up for the last 10 minutes of the show.
Oooo... And Ruby get's her throat slit. Bye-bye Strucker and Ruby. Dead and Deader. I cheered a little.
Fitz: Where's Hale?
May: How did she get away?
Simmons: And what happened to Ruby?
Daisy: I had it under control, she was coming around, and then Yo-Yo killed her.
YoYo: No. I just saved the world.
Did she save the world? (And no, Daisy, she wasn't coming around. She was going nuts.)
The epilog:
Hale: Qovas ? QOVAS?
Alien: Coming here without permission. You're aware of the punishment.
Hale: I found what you're looking for.
Alien: The gravitonium?
Hale: SHIELD has it.
Alien: Then you failed. Perhaps our deal has reached it's end.
Hale: I can tell you where they're hiding. But they won't give it willingly.
Alien: You'd have me kill them?
Hale: I have no reason to stop you.
Well, if any of you thought Hale could be redeemed... You've just been denied.
Infinity War starts before the next ep,
just in time for the Confederacy to appear.
I'm still not sure how the team has altered history enough to prevent the destruction of the Earth. Was Yo-Yo's killing of Ruby the key? We need to see what Robin is drawing now...
I'm not sure what the point of Talbot's arc was. Just to dislike Hale more, or to waste time before all hell breaks loose starting next week? Or did his actions today play a bigger part in the future?
I also question Strucker's part. He shows up as part of Hale's team just to decipher his dad's notes before getting killed off? Man, I hope I play no small parts in one of the showrunner's shows. They have this bad habit of just killing off characters they're done with...
Four more shows. Like the past four seasons, I expect them all to be in high-gear...
