The crew on the surface probably has a method for removing them. Maybe even one of the tools like Yo-yo grabbed or perhaps just a couple of strong magnets. They look a lot like the things clothing stores use to deter shoplifting.

Those things went straight through there (*their) arms. There should be a wound. Or atleast some kind of bandage where it was (so that CG didn't have to deal with the make-up effect of a wound)
